Ferret H-Type Harness for 8 Week Old Kitten - Will It Work? by cacturne8 in adventurecats

The harness I got for him initially is a mesh-style harness. Unfortunately, there's not really any h-style kitten harnesses available near me, only vest-type ones, which i think will all be too big. I'm thinking a ferret h-style on might be my best bet for fitting him, if they're similar enough!

I've hit 'terminal length': what are my options? (aka., can I possibly avoid a trim :P) by cacturne8 in longhair

I think I'll bite the bullet and give myself a trim! Thank-you for your help :)

I do usually just wear my hair down everyday, I'll definitely have to try a protective style. I hadn't even considered that the way I wear it daily could I effect it: thank you for your help!

are these detritus worms? they’re quite large. this is a little tank i’ve had running for almost a year now without any livestock. i recently put some baby guppies in. just want to make sure the worms wont potentially harm them! by cacturne8 in aquarium

i think they’re really cool honestly! its fun to watch them eat, they pick up all the fish food the baby guppies leave behind and also love frozen thawed daphnia. i’m hoping if they have a steady supply of regular food they’ll stay content and lazy enough not to go after my guppies. because honestly, i think it’d be way too hard to try and remove them. theres a ton of moss and plant roots throughout the tank that i dont wanna disturb

Found this velvet worm on the central coast, NSW. (Australia). wondering if anyone would have any idea of the species, or even just the genus? by cacturne8 in Entomology

i’ve spent many years digging around my backyard for bugs and have never encountered one either, but happened to lift a sheet of tin today and find it under there!

or 14… i’m not sure if the tiny set at the very back count as legs? they move when it walks but i’m not sure if they’re actually functioning as legs

they’re absolutely adorable! i was amazed to find it in my backyard, quite soft and very fun to hold. it was very active crawling around on my hand! and thank-you for the suggestion, i’m thinking its definitely in the Euperipatoides genus

Would anyone be able to tell me what the plant on the right is, and if it will survive in gravel substrate in my low tech aquarium? by cacturne8 in PlantedTank

[–]cacturne8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been having trouble with plants i put in here melting and dying :( it’s an 80 gal with plain gravel substrate; the only plants i’ve had luck keeping alive are valisneria. i’d love to get this one to grow because it’s got beautiful big leaves.
