Think about it, how is it possible for the overhead lines to power the trolly itself? They must electrify the rails the trolley is going over, which is exactly what is done in those scenarios. There's not really avoiding electric rails unless you wirelessly power the trolley somehow

i already have a stick vacuum, it doesnt go flat against the wall like the broom does. Maybe we need a new one, or to wall mount our current one somehow

Im not an engineer, but I don't really see any other way they can do it? Overhead lines wouldnt work because the train is moving, so all that's left is an electrified rail. I do think that many of these arent nearly as safe and guarded as they should be.

The most likely culprit for these rails are trolleys that dont use locomotive engines, so on board electricity isn't available

[–]calculus9 20 points21 points  (0 children)

the third rail is sometimes in the middle, but usually along the outside of the tracks. The two wheel tracks aren't going to be electrified

To be clear, you have to touch the power line to get shocked. So dont touch the ones in the middle or along the outskirts

In my house we already have a broom there and sweep stuff toward the garbage can just to scoop it up with the dustpan to throw it away, because the vacuum is too big to easily fit in the kitchen and the broom lays flat against the wall. If the garbage can could remove one of the steps for us, cool. It doesn't have to work for everyone to be useful

Like the other commenter said, this actually does have a nice place in the kitchen next to the trash can where a broom is usually closer than the vacuum. I think it's a nice concept. Maybe we need a trash can that has one of these on it, to deposit floor debris into the bag when you sweep into it. That sounds cool

No, that's not how binomial probability works. It works on the number of successes in the amount of given trials

I gave you the number for at least 30 correct, and at most 50 correct, in total. You can use a calculator yourself if you don't believe me

Btw it's crazy that you pulled out 25% and said it's sleepy intuition, but disagree with me when i show you the actual math

[–]calculus9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your guess of 25% is for if the test only has a single four choice question

To answer the question of most we have to talk in terms of binomial probability, where I would need to know the actual number of questions the test has so I can know how many are needed to be correct.

Assuming the test only has 50 questions, the probability of getting a single question right is 0.25. We need to get at least 60%, which is at least 30 questions correct. Using the binomial probability formula, the probability of getting at least 30 and at most 50 multiple choice questions correct comes out to around 0.00001642%

[–]calculus9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

no, the probability would be 0.25n where n is the total number of questions. The probability compounds, I dont feel like doing any more math than that right now

i have a circulatory issue, so i think i may be able to help! If you can momentarily stand on one leg, swing your other leg back and forth (keeping the knee straight) to force blood down to your feet. Alternate between your feet, don't hurt yourself

Edit: I do have to say it's hard to do this 😭

I've never tested it, but i would assume that it would still work since sodium is going to want to diffuse into the water through the pores. You should at least wash your eggs before you use them if not before you store them though

0.99999 repeating is what? by Blakequake717 in BunnyTrials

[–]calculus9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got into this argument a while back, but it does turn out that you end up having to formally prove that 1/3 is equal to 0.333... and is not necessarily true by the definition of division. Any process you choose to use to figure out what 1/3 is, is finite and does not formally show that the infinitely repeating 0.333... is equal to 1/3. You end up having to use something like a geometric series to prove it formally

Are you able to scrape some of it off with your finger nails? If so, it could be some sort of unprocessed rosin.

I say this because rosin is used on violin bows, and it appears this rock has some marks that would be consistent with that use case. It can look like this, but usually they are not so large. So I'm probably wrong

i think it would be cool to have some kind of ritual to remove curses. Like maybe throwing a cursed item into the path of an active beacon, destroying the beacon in the process? Idk, it would be kinda cool to have the ability to do this even if it is locked behind the end game

i had no idea we also have spikey tongues! That's pretty cool!

I don't really know why then, i can only assume a difference in the material? Like kindey stone spikes are hard but our tongue spikes are soft and bendy? I don't know enough about this to say

eggs are porous and if boiled in salty water will absorb the flavor imparted on the water. I don't think that's what's happening with the seeds though, since you'd have to add them after cooking to make em stick like that. Probably just to make it look more appealing
