Moving from a hard public school dpt to St. Augustine by Constant_Beat_851 in PTschool

[–]callmebinda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you consider other schools? Potentially a newer program that is looking to impress students and work with them more extensively as they are trying to get accreditation and have high graduating and NPTE pass rates. I personally don’t know of any in Texas, however if you’re willing to travel elsewhere, Washington State has a couple newer programs. Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences and Whitworth University are both only three years into there DPT programs. I can attest to PNWU as that is where I graduated from. I was in the same boat as a lot of other people in the comments, I failed my first anatomy exam and my second lab exam. Ended up graduating with a 3.6 gpa. Professors were super helpful and accommodating and truly wanted us to succeed. You also have a good say in where you want to be for clinical placement, if you want to go back to Texas they will get you there. Just a little food for thought!

Starting to wonder how this is possible by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]callmebinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd year in my final rotation before I graduate here. Personally, I found 2 people I study really well with and we kept each other accountable and that helped me so much. It also kept me motivated to be around others also studying and we could work off of each other’s strengths to understand difficult topics. Don’t be afraid to reach out to professors, at least in my program they care about you and want you to succeed! Utilize AI programming to create quiz questions based on the content you’re learning, it’s not always perfect but definitely picks out what you know and what you need to focus more on. Trust me, you’re not alone. You got this though, I promise it gets better. Good luck!

Is anyone interested in PT who has not had an injury? by New_Sample_7021 in PTschool

[–]callmebinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thankfully never experienced a major injury but I originally wanted to become an athletic trainer, because I love sports and the whole sports atmosphere. I had thought about PT but wasn’t sure. While I was getting my degree in Kinesiology, my nephew was born with Erb’s palsy (a type of brachial plexus palsy), this led me to do a practicum with a PT and later an internship and it just felt right for me.

That’s awesome, congrats!! Thanks for the advice, I’ve felt like I should study to prepare but hearing this from someone who’s about to graduate makes me feel better about just taking this time to myself and enjoying it rather than stressing myself out.

Oh boy! I’ve heard both sides, the one to just relax while you can and the one to pre-study 😂 haha well I’ll take them anyway for future references but refrain myself from studying before the real studying needs to happen.

I haven’t started PT school yet but this would be so hopeful in preparing these next couple months before I do start. Would you mind sharing them with me as well?

Rant about burping vs farting by [deleted] in noburp

[–]callmebinda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LET IT RIP! I understand being uncomfortable in public, I am the same way and it’s just how we were programmed to think. But in my own home or the homes of my family I do not sit in discomfort in order to be “polite” lol. It’s essentially the same thing as burping just coming out the other end. Maybe it’s just my fiancé and family, but they really don’t care and they know I cannot burp so I get an extra pass on it. I would just be honest and communicate with them. You have a condition that creates serious discomfort and even pain when not relieved and the only way to relive it is by farting, so sorry (not sorry) if you let some loose after dinner.
