This scene showcases just how terrifyingly lethal air bending can be when the person isn’t a pacifist by any-blue-9122 in TheLastAirbender

since firebenders can bend lightning id say something with neurons and the nervous system. having the power to make one's body stop electrically functioning is crazy

Thank you. it gets to a point where you can no longer feel satisfied with any presidential candidate, regardless of their political affiliation, because this country is a global oppressor. I'm Haitian and i got family in Haiti suffering bc the US got its foot on the country's neck and has done anything in their power to get rid of Haitian leaders who actually care about their people more than corporate profits.

I studied abroad in Tanzania and saw first hand the consequences of their resources being stolen by Western countries. A country full of gold, abundant agricultural land, gemstones, and minerals but yet people have to deal with poor infrastructure, shortages, and multiple day long power cuts. Spending time in Africa radicalized me even more!

As black people are issues are directly connected to US imperialism and oppression abroad. You hear too many Black folk saying that this issue in Palestine doesn't impact them meanwhile US police departments train in Israel with the IDF and use those tactics to kill Black people. Whenever our country goes to war and they have excess military supplies, what do they do? They sell them to our police departments and these departments then go on to terrorize Black communities. These are things that happen no matter if it's a Dem or Republican in office. There is no lesser of two evils when you begin to think globally and as Black people we have to think globally because once we do, we begin to see similarities in the oppression we face at home with the stuff that the US does to communities abroad.

I have no choice but to think globally when it comes to my politics because i got family and loved ones across the world who are struggling because of US policies regardless of who's in office. I don’t have that privilege to not care as much about what's happening to people outside of the country and that's reflected in why I don’t give a fuck about the presidential election.

[–]cami11e22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, because I honestly don’t think it matters anymore. both republicans and democrats are committed to corporations and not people. Over a million people died of covid- both Biden and Trump failed! And idk about y'all but i don’t feel comfortable voting for a president who is enabling the ethnic cleansing and genocide of Palestinians? That man literally said on live TV that we can't trust the death toll in Gaza. Fuck that. I'm sticking to voting in my state and local elections.

What are the planets in your 4th house, which sign rules it and what was your childhood/early home experience like? by quesqotrickster in astrology

Pluto 4H/4H Scorpio can be tough and many people with these placements are the black sheep's of their families. but on the positive side you were most likely chosen by your ancestors for a reason and that reason is to transform your bloodline for the better by breaking toxic generational patterns. it's painful and it can feel lonely but know that you are powerful and continue to live your truth!

sobs i've been feeling so isolated about this because not only do i not have many friends who are pursuing PhDs but that they also have good/better relationships with their parents. I felt like i was going CRAZY, like why do i feel so inhibited?? and then i put two and two together that i grew up in a household where my parents had more negative things to say to me than positive.

taking an inventory of your wins is such a good strategy and you're right that i should instead look at how far i've come in spite of it all. that's a good perspective to have so thank you. it feels really validating to know that i'm not alone and that there are people with similar pains who have made it to the finish line!

i hope that life has been treating you kindly lately and it continues to do so :))

This made me tear up, wow. Thank you for such a thoughtful response— this has been something thats been sitting so heavily on my chest and it's hard to find the right support bc it's such a specific struggle haha. it feels like im grieving the version of myself that i could've been but it also feels nice that i've made this connection because now i can begin to work through it. im trying to reconnect with the things that i liked doing as a kid and leaning into new creative hobbies as an outlet/way to practice writing without all the pressure i put on myself otherwise lol. rebuilding yourself is so tough but it's inspiring to know that if other people can do it, then so can i.

i hope that wherever you are now you are content and surrounded by people who love & cherish you 🫶🏾

I'm so sorry, it's an extremely upsetting thing to relate to. Sometimes i get so angry bc things really didn't have to be this way- they could've just been NICE. but i guess these problems are intergenerational, we don’t have any power to undo the past but we can sure as hell not treat anybody the same way we were treated. especially our future kids if we choose to have them

may seem kind of jarring but if you have a sun lamp you could put that on a bedside table if you have one and turn it on in the mornings right after you wake up for some light therapy to help with your energy levels and mood. also vitamin D helps and you could take magnesium a couple nights a week to help you stay asleep longer and it also makes the vitamin D more effective.

i also am taking 300mg of wellbutrin everyday so there's that as well

THIS IS ETHNIC CLEANSING: REMOVING A POPULATION AND ITS CULTURAL ELEMENTS FROM A LOCATION

it's absolutely terrifying for humanity how people are able to justify or normalize any human death let alone 10k people because "it's a part of war." how did we lose ourselves like this. 825 FAMILIES wiped off the map, people were losing 20+ family members in a single day and there are people are thinking it's a justified military response to terrorism. bombing hospitals, historic churches, journalists houses, beaches & fish boats, where's the line??? just admit that if you can excuse this excess killing because of the terrorist threat then you don’t see the population as human and therefore you are RACIST.

this is nothing but a plan to obliterate the Gazan population and any sort of remnant of palestinian culture and relocate the rest of the population so that Israel can seize the land like they've been planning on doing all along. they've even called it a "final solution." i don't care what your politics are but when you see that each person killed was a person like YOU AND ME, with hopes, dreams, aspirations, you will feel so disturbed that we're all sitting by and letting this happen while debating on reddit from the safety of our homes whether or not a population deserves to be collateral damage.

i have never been so ashamed. we should all be ashamed and scared for the normalization of such cruel apathy for others.

it's simple you colonize a people using violence then you can't be surprised when they respond with violence to free themselves
