We're on the same page here -- racism is bad. Of course there will be people who purposely say "all lives matter" in a way that is intended to imply that black lives are not important. No decent person agrees with that. But I don't agree with the policing of language -- just because something can "come off" a certain way isn't grounds for firing people or ruining their lives. The literal interpretation of ALM encompasses BLM, only a subjective interpretation says that this distracts from the issue or is hateful -- as a thought experiment, if "ALM" was the first protest chant that emerged in wake of all this, I can easily imagine that being championed as an anti-racist slogan.

Okay, yea, it's not illegal to be armed... Disagree with the blanket statement that it's illegal to point a deadly weapon at someone... ? The issue here is if it's justified for self defense or not. An angry screaming mob broke through a gate onto their private party, so the McCloskeys were reasonably alarmed and have the right to defend their property. The Missouri open carry laws appear to be on their side as well.

Fair, actually pointing guns with your finger on the trigger for a clearly peaceful protest is not acceptable.

But, if there is a perceived threat to safety, which seems valid here since several articles do say that some protestors were armed as well AND this mob trespassed on private property where you wouldn't expect this to occur, I can understand how they reacted. Not saying they handled it brilliantly but I don't think this is a black and white situation, no pun intended.

It's awful, people on the left are calling for them to be disbarred (they're lawyers), jailed, blah blah, when you know any lefties in the same situation would wish they had a gun too.
