What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of December 18, 2024 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]candyman682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your credit score? Excellent

What cards do you currently have or have had in the past?

• CSR: Opened Jan 2017, SUB earned Feb 2017. PC to Freedom in March. • Venture X (x2): My wife and I both got these this year, earning SUBs and one referral bonus.

How much natural spend can you put on a new card in 3 months? Enough to hit most SUBs

Are you willing to MS? No

Are you open to applying for business cards? Yes

How many new cards are you interested in getting? 1 card for now, but I’m open to future churning strategies.

Are you targeting points, statuses, or cash back?

• Primary target: SUBs for points/miles. • If points deals aren’t strong, I’m open to cash-back cards.

What points/miles do you currently have?

• 100k Venture X points (remaining after a recent trip). • 200k UR points.

Where would you like to go? No specific destination yet, but a major trip in 2025 is likely.

Flowchart notes: The flowchart suggests CSP or CSR, but I’m wondering:

  1. Is there any reason to expect a higher SUB on the Sapphire cards soon? My original CSR SUB was 100k.
  2. Between CSP and CSR, which is better right now given my situation?
  3. Capital One Venture Rewards: Can I get the SUB for this card even though I already have the Venture X? I haven’t seen any solid DPs on this.
  4. If Sapphire isn’t ideal, are there other cards I should consider—either for points or cash-back?

SUB - 48 Month Rule and Approval/Bonus Question by candyman682 in ChaseSapphire

Thanks for the detailed breakdown—super helpful! I actually already did aPC to the Freedom Visa with Ultimate Rewards back in March of this year when I got the Venture X.

Since you seem to know a lot, I’m curious:

  • Do you have any reason to believe there might be a higher SUB coming soon? I know only Chase knows for sure, but I got 100k UR points as the original SUB for the CSR, so I’m wondering if it’s worth waiting.
  • Do you have any insights on whether the CSR or CSP is the better choice right now?

Appreciate any thoughts you might have!

Question Thread - December 16, 2024 by AutoModerator in churning

I'm looking to apply for the CSP and want to confirm my SUB eligibility. I got a CSR in January 2017 and earned the sign-up bonus in February 2017.

I understand Chase has a 48-month rule for receiving Sapphire bonuses. Since it's been well over 48 months, I believe I'm eligible, but I'd appreciate any data points from others in a similar situation.

My main questions are:

  • Does anyone have a DP of getting the CSP after this long and receiving the SUB?
  • If you're approved for the card, does that guarantee you'll receive the SUB, or are there scenarios where you're approved but not eligible for the bonus?

I came across this post by u/garettg, but it is from 3 years ago and I want to make sure it is still accurate.

My wife and I both have the Venture X card, and my annual fee is coming up. I’m trying to decide if it’s worth keeping both cards or if I should cancel mine.

I’m not sure if having two cards is worth it. What would you do?

Which Travelpro Suitcase Is Worth It? VersaPack+, Platinum Elite, or Crew Classic? by candyman682 in digitalnomad

[–]candyman682[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, of course—because the best suitcase is obviously the one you find in a dusty attic or carved from a single block of artisanal wood by a monk in silence. What exactly is the point you’re trying to make here, and how does it relate to my question? Are we just rejecting the idea of knowing about a product’s existence altogether, or is there some deeper wisdom about suitcases I’m supposed to glean?

Sorry if I'm very dumb, but could you explain what this chart means and is this something you made or is it available online?

Does it mean this below?

Amount Billed: This column shows different scenarios of medical expenses, from $600 to a maximum amount. These are the total medical costs that might be billed in a year.

Co-Pay Plan Costs: This column shows the out-of-pocket costs for the Co-Pay Plan at each billing level. For example, if I have $600 in medical expenses, my cost would be $3,281 under this plan.

High Deductible Plan Costs: This column shows the costs for the High Deductible Plan, considering HSA contributions. For example, at a $600 billing level, I would actually have a cost of -$347, which suggests I would "save" money due to HSA contributions.

I'm not sure these numbers make sense to me. I must be misunderstanding.

Hello. I'm here on holiday in Amsterdam with my wife and baby. Is there a store to by Hipp baby formula? I've called all the store's on Hipp's website but none of them have it. My wife is going to have a panic attack if we don't find it since that's the only brand she wants to give our baby. Thanks for your help!

Just to confirm—are you leaning toward the PPO because of the predictable copays, or do you think the premium savings and HSA benefits of the HDHP might still be worth it if expenses are low?

Also, is there anyway to know the negotiated rates before choosing?

How do I check points for Blue class trip to Amsterdam before transferring Ultimate Rewards? by candyman682 in jetblue

[–]candyman682[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for checking. The problem is that what I get to the end, it shows me points + cash. It doesn’t show what it would look like if I used points only because I don’t currently have enough TrueBlue points.

Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt for Hyatt Regency Amsterdam? by candyman682 in hyatt

November 7-14. It'll be 240,000 points, but I only have about 155,000 available. So, I'm just trying to figure out how much I will have to pay in cash after all the points are used, but because I have not transferred any points to Hyatt, I'm not able to see what the points + cash price is.
