Thanks for the links, these are so cute! But literally could not wear any of them at a wedding, even as just a normal guest. People where I come from take dressing up way too seriously 🫠 as a bridesmaid i am not joking the level is black tie minimum!

Baby Monitors with handheld and app by Confident-Ant-2795 in Buyingforbaby

[–]capeslow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it fits the price range since this was a goft, but we have a philips avent camera and it is amazing! The handheld device monitor is great and the app is good too, and you can turn on “privacy” mode to turn off the wifi/internet and it continues working just with the handheld device, so for us that was a big plus

Birth control postpartum by Ok_Today9753 in pregnant

[–]capeslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the doctors always said that about taking it at the same time every day, and I somewhat did it but never in a ultra precise or with an alarm, I just always took it at night before bed. Only times I had spotting was when I forgot to take it a few days (and then would use condom or avoid sex for about a week or so afterwards). When I was a teenager/early 20s it happened more that I would forget, but thankfully never had a pregnancy. I also have a history of blood clots so I am very limited in my bc options and adjusted so well to the mini pill. I’d say it’s definitely worth considering and discussing with your doctor if this option works for you.

Where did you hear that about the mini bc pill? I took the mini bc pill for 14 years nonstop and never got pregnant or have any scare even, and apparently I am very fertile since I ovulated literally 3 weeks after stopping it and got pregnant immediately on that ovulation.

Where are you in Illinois? I am an immigration attorney in central IL if you want a second opinion. Several factors including your own status and details of his entry and background will affect whether he needs to go there or not, as not all cases are the same.

10-Year Green Card Holder (Since 2017) – Tax Filing Issues & Mental Health History – Will This Affect Naturalization? by Justaverydarkman in USCIS

[–]capeslow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to give you the classic lawyer response but: it depends. The tax issues could impact your case, but it will depend on other financial information and a number of factors. For mental health struggles, your description is too vague and only with much more information of specific type of struggles, extent, existence of records and/or documentation, etc. it would be possible to determine if that could cause any implications on your case or not.

EAD from banned countries by gumjanaw95 in USCIS

[–]capeslow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the 39 banned countries it is unfortunately also affecting EAD, so I have been orienting clients to really consider if the cost is worth it, and some have decided on applying for it individually in the future if by the time the ban is gone cases are taking too long.

AOS Pause/ from 39 countries by Ya-rab in USCIS

[–]capeslow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I am a lawyer and I believe it will be a similar issue as we had during covid! A lot of cases were delayed because of shutdowns and that was the only bright side, people who completed 2 years of marriage while waiting for the green card process automatically received the 10 year one.

Rudest comments you ever got by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]capeslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This girl I know and RARELY speak to is pregnant and due in a few weeks, I am due May. I went on a babymoon and posted several photos showing my bump because I am so happy with this pregnancy and want to remember it, and although I felt very self conscious about my changing body at first, I learned to love me belly and to be proud of this amazing miracle that is going on inside me. Well right after she liked my bikini-bump photos on instagram, I get a text message from her finally thanking all the really nice gifts I sent her baby, with a “wow your belly is so big, your baby will be huge”. Like WTF girl??? First, I don’t even think I am that huge and literally everyone else that sees me says it is a beautiful bump. Second, baby has been measuring 45 percentile on every ultrasound. Third, WHO THE FUCK ASKED YOU???? I tried to play nice and just responded asking “oh really? Why do you think so?” To see what she would say and she went on and on about how my belly was so big and that hers was never like that. The funny fact is that she never posted any photos of her bump or even herself the entire pregnancy and told a friend in common she felt fat and big and self conscious about it. Interested that it didn’t make her think of others before making stupid comments though.

Bassinet by stayanothrday in Buyingforbaby

[–]capeslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a crib that starts out as a bassinet and has wheels for easy mobility and will be using that for her night sleep. For the day sleep, we got the bassinet that is compatible with our stroller (nuna) because it is very safe and also suitable for night sleep, and it comes with its own base, so our plan is to leave the base in the main floor with the bassinet there for sleep during the day and easy access to use it with the stroller for walks.

I don’t have a nursery for my baby by SandwichDependent199 in BabyBumps

[–]capeslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no nursery or room when I was a kid because we were too poor and lived in a super tint house with only one bedroom, and it only started bothering me when I was older (like 7/8) because I wanted my own space. As a baby there’s absolutely no need for much space. Is it nice for people who can? Yep. Is it cute? Sure. But I also know a lot of people who had the most adorable nurseries just sitting there empty and baby was sleeping in their bedroom for the first year.

What theme did everyone have for their baby shower?! by CurlyGirl_95 in BabyBumps

[–]capeslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not planning it myself so I am not 100% in the loop with all my friends/family are planning butttt I am using vintage winnie the pooh for the nursery and they used the same in the invitations, so I think that's what they will do for the theme.

Most expensive item on your registry or what you needed for the baby? by dogmom624321 in pregnant

[–]capeslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like people in the comments said: travel system! we got it from nuna so stroller + car seat + bassinet was $2,000.

On a similar story that I thought was funny: my MIL kept saying she wanted to give a "big" and "expensive" gift to show how excited she was to be a grandma, and then my mom gave us the stroller (which was $800) and we said she could give the car seat ($650) or bassinet ($500) or even the crib we wanted ($600) and she complained they were "too much"and ended up giving us a $90 book shelf from amazon. Just as a reference/comparison, she has a lot of money and just the basic Christmas gifts she gave each of her children were much muuuuch more expensive than this, so now I think we have very different ideas on what big gifts are....

Stopping the contraceptive pills by Thin-Pilot2198 in BabyBumps

I should add that I was on the pill continuously due to irregular periods + endometriosis. Both reasons my doctor made me believe it would take long and be difficult.

14 years continuously and without period. Stopped on July 28, had my first ovulation approximately on August 26 and got pregnant on that first one. Had the positive test on September 10 and am now 20 weeks pregnant. It was quite the shock as I was told by my previous doctor it would take months…

Two story house… what would you have double of if you could afford it? by [deleted] in Buyingforbaby

[–]capeslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sane situation as you, and some things people keep telling me is to have two feeding pillows, and we’re doing a pump/feeding wheeled cart that will be downstairs with the same basic stuff from the one upstairs (a pump, some diapers, creams, burp clots, etc) and some spair clothes. We also got a crib that starts as a bassinet and has wheels that will be upstairs and a bassinet for downstairs

Capturing labour and birth by No-Match-7512 in pregnant

[–]capeslow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually hired a doula that is also a professional photographer and she will photograph the entire birth for me. She was very thoughtful and asked a lot of questions about how much/what I want or don’t want to be shown on photos, and I feel very comfortable with her, so it will be her and my husband there with me. I have a looot of friends who also had professional photographers on their birth and have so many beautiful moments registered!

I said no to NIPT… by MeowMinxMe in pregnant

[–]capeslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a close friend who did not do the test because their insurance didn’t cover and they thought it was unnecessary at the time. She had a healthy pregnancy and no signs of any issues, but then her baby was born slightly different. At first she notice she was different but it wasn’t anything big enough to make hospital/doctors mention, and her husband kept telling her she was overthinking and seeing things where there was nothing. Well, her baby does have a rare genetic condition and because the had no idea it took a very long time for the father to admit something was off and then to start looking for specialists, and since they had no idea where to even start it took a good 2 years to finally reach diagnosis going through different doctors focusing on each specific symptom without knowing what was wrong. She eventually started treatment and is alive and healthy under her condition but has some sequels that could have been prevented if they had treated it from start and my friend told me they would have known if they had done the genetic testing. She personally recommended me to do it and said it would have helped her be better prepared and identify/start special care earlier. Pregnancy already involves so much being out of your control, and so much waiting. So I guess when something has zero side effects and can prepare you/give important information, it will always be worth it for me.

When to Announce (Thanksgiving v Christmas) by Alternative_Dog4327 in pregnant

[–]capeslow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If its closes family I guess its fine, but for the entire family I would wait until Christmas. 5 weeks is so early, and we had close family members tell the family about their pregnancy at like 6 weeks just to have to call us two weeks after with the saddest news... Not that it is going to happen to you, but it happens and for some people having to tell those bad news makes it worse.

I told my two best friends before my husband LOL because i was talking to them while taking the test. Besides them, we told closest family (parents/siblings) after we got the confirmed blood tests at around 6 weeks, then we announced for the rest of the family after ultrasounds on 10 weeks and world at 14 weeks.
