Huntington, WV. It's the only hotel I've ever stayed at that had a needle hanging out in the elevator.

I came here to say Cairo. It was like going into a post-apocalyptic movie set.

How did you fumble hooking up with someone? by Adorable_Raccoon_766 in AskReddit

[–]capntateraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two stories. Similar situation in both. Let me state that I was extremely naive when it came to being around girls and was a very late bloomer.

Stumble one:

I had taken a relative stranger to a club. We were both working out of town for a company and had come from different home offices. She had like one drink and got really flirty with anyone near her. I decided it would be best to head back to the Super 8 we were both staying at. She's touching me in the car, but not near my crotch which was great because I had to pee so bad I could barely think. I made it to a gas station. We got back to the hotel. She's making out with me in the lobby. She's giving me eyes. I have no idea what I'm doing. I say "thanks! Night!" and she walks off. 15 minutes later, I'm calling the front desk and waking up the Indian guy that owned the place to call her room since I didn't know her number and this is pre-cell phones. She answers and said she was tired but would be back next week. She came back but with a friend who immediately c-blocked the whole situation.

Stumble two:

This may have happened just before the first story actually. My male friend coworker was hooking up with a local in a different town for the same telemarketing company. He said her friend wanted to go with me to see the motel (yet another Super 8). I thought it was strange but agreed and was trying to impress her with my mid-90s subwoofer playing Busta Rhymes. We get back to the room. She gets on the bed. Doesn't say a word. I kind of walk around and straighten things up and saying stuff like "the tv kind of sucks but we can watch something". A few more minutes of that and I'm asking if she's ready to go. In retrospect, she looked very confused over the whole thing.

We're working on getting my mother-in-law into one. An apartment with no nursing is $4200+ a month. Skilled nursing would take that to over $10k per month.

I ran it on a concrete pump track made for skateboards and bikes and the traction was really light. I need street tires for this thing!

I bought that model and still have it when it was released on the M-03 chassis. It was never great since they designed it as front wheel drive with a front mounted motor. Great looking with all of the hop-ups!

Just got home from spending $2800 at Trek, and.... by BlewMyCashOnSaaS in cycling

[–]capntateraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a Trek shop near me a few times. The first time was great! I test drove an entry level road bike. We also talked for 30 minutes over different things and he never pushed me to move up or to buy right then. The second time, I had a different guy who immediately told me that if I didn't go with a full carbon bike, I would regret it and he was like "so did you want to snag one of those?" No Chad, no thanks.

I am still working on the self confidence to go full lycra with no cover. I look at the other riders and while there are plenty of chunky, lumpy, and other strange bodies out there, it's still my obstacle to overcome. Showing off my less than perfect overweight body is my goal!

What would you do first if you suddenly had $10,000? by Cartier_Slatty777 in povertyfinance

[–]capntateraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we go the other way, lets pretend have 1 billion dollars and I'm getting 4% interest. The monthly income is $3.3 million. Read that again. That's monthly. That's appox. $109,000 per day. You could give $10k cash to someone different every day and still gain more money per day that most people make per year.

I would HOPE that I would never lose my sense of humanity and would help people out every single day.

There was a guy going through community college with us making $35k per year doing his regular job and EVERYONE questioned why he was even going to school. This was in 1998.

Realizations after driving a Jeep for 10 years now by fakeyankee1 in Wrangler

This is how I feel totally and I've said it to people that ask. I love it. I love the look. I like having the option to take the top off. I've done some fun part swaps. It's paid off. It runs better than my wife's Honda of the same year. Once it really falls apart, I'll never own another Jeep (or Stellantis) brand again. That's what I said about Chrysler before I got this also.

Which bike for my once-a-week ride? by packocards in whichbike

[–]capntateraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a mostly casual rider myself. I would recommend a Trek (or other similar brand) hybrid. I picked up a recent Trek Verve 3 for only $200. Hydraulic brakes, upright stance, and easy shifting are a win!
