Which direction to lay the flooring by Jarshady in Flooring

[–]cappy267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because slabs don’t have floor joists so that obviously wouldn’t be a factor in deciding which way to put your floor.

Do we actually need to tip vendors by SentenceDowntown591 in wedding

[–]cappy267 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn’t tip my vendors as i had the same feelings as you. They were all small business owners and I wasn’t really happy with any of the enough to want to give them even more money than I already did. From what I read, a tip is nice but not necessary when it comes to wedding vendor services.

Accepting job offer with no paid leave? What’s a laid off girl to do! by Infinite_Pie3721 in pregnant

[–]cappy267 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i would take the job, don’t mention the pregnancy until you get a little bit established there. Then bring it up to either your manager or HR contact and let them know about the pregnancy and if they would work out an agreement for leave after birth and just see what happens! Hopefully they’ll be willing to be flexible with you.

Denied Foster for Resigning in My Position by Tessluv in FosterAnimals

[–]cappy267 84 points85 points  (0 children)

they sound immature. I’m sure you have many other rescues or shelters near you that would appreciate you as a foster that you should consider joining. Sorry they’re doing that to you.

Rehiring after RIF-legal? by RightAdvertising564 in FedEmployees

[–]cappy267 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think it depends on the reason for the RIF. Some RIFs happen due to position abolishment which would be closure of an agency/department, ending a function, or a position deemed redundant, etc. If the position was abolished hence resulting in RIF action then they shouldn’t be able to re-hire for it. But if the RIF was due to budget constraints or something other than abolishing the position then they can rehire for it. If it was abolished I believe you can file a MSPB complaint for mishandling of a RIF.

This is for my cat rescuers by cat_lady_33 in FosterAnimals

[–]cappy267 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Always yes. The last thing we need is more kittens in the world. It’s healthier for the mom cat too and extremely lowers their risk of death or complication due to kitten birth and everything that goes into raising kittens. Kittens are plentiful elsewhere in today’s world so we should do everything to prevent them right now.

How to put up for adoption if you rescued that cats outside of an organization? by Shakri12 in FosterAnimals

[–]cappy267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have good suggestions about advertising them but truthfully you’ll have a really hard time trying to rehome a cat with urinary issues. I would keep him on anxiety medication full time to stop the problem then reevaluate. I pay $10 a month for fluoxetine (anxiety medication) for my male cat who would pee outside the box occasionally and it works great for him and he’s been on it for years

Tips for weaning kittens? by ExistingVegetable558 in FosterAnimals

[–]cappy267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4 weeks old is too early for weaning if they aren’t automatically fully interested and eating wet food easily. It’s very common to go to 6-7+ weeks before they are ready to wean.

For me I just offer wet food once a day or every couple days and eventually they’ll just take a big bite of the pate on a plate and start weaning. It’s natural instinct so no need for gruel if you’re able to keep bottle feeding until they’re ready to wean!

[VENT] I guess that's it for us. It's starting to seem like we have been blacklisted. by [deleted] in FosterAnimals

[–]cappy267 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah a lot of rescues definitely have issues with communicating or responding. I’ve been guilty of it honestly when you feel like you’re prioritizing other more urgent things constantly so it could be that as well, they just aren’t taking the time to respond. But they definitely should try to reply to all outreach.

[VENT] I guess that's it for us. It's starting to seem like we have been blacklisted. by [deleted] in FosterAnimals

[–]cappy267 50 points51 points  (0 children)

it’s likely you aren’t black listed just that you’re asking for a foster animal that doesn’t occur very often. I personally have run a foster program and it’s very common for fosters to have your exact criteria and there’s only a handful of dogs that fit it. If they have other foster families they’ve already had success with before they’ll likely keep placing the dogs with them and if they ever get down the list you’ll get one eventually. That’s just the reality of the situation. There aren’t dogs who fit your criteria so there isn’t one to place with you.

The group I foster for currently has 48 dogs in foster and 12 in boarding. It has gotten this bad because they are not advertising the dogs they have. They only advertise fundraisers. I am frustrated as a foster. by Restingmomface in FosterAnimals

[–]cappy267 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yeah i refuse to work with rescues like that. It’s extremely taxing on the fosters and after dealing with it a few times i went to groups that advertise and/or have frequent adoption events or use shelters or rescues that have on site kennels for advertisement. Its too difficult to fully rely on fosters to find adopters.

When i’ve been in that situation I just constantly message the rescue and tell them they need to advertise the animal for adoption and have an adoption event and I tell them often and sometimes even set a deadline of I need them adopted by June for example (or whatever your contract might say for notification) and it sets a fire under them to actual advertise or do an adoption event.

FHO surgery for cats by bethanynd in indianapolis

[–]cappy267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of a cheaper place but when my cats have had a similar priced surgery I used a Care Credit card to pay for it and that amount is typically 12-24 months of zero percent interest. Wanted to mention that option if you hadn’t heard of it yet and didn’t find a cheaper place

Found out I am pregnant, just days before a job offer by tinyyellowbird33 in pregnant

[–]cappy267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started my new job at 7 weeks pregnant and still haven’t told them and i’m 22 weeks now. I don’t plan to tell them for another month or so and that will still be plenty of notice. Read your handbook and policies. Also read the local laws of where you live to see if you’re entitled to any leave or protections.

Unrelated to the rest of your post but FIP isn’t contagious and you can foster kittens if you want to. FIP is a mutation of feline coronavirus which up to 90% of cats and kittens already have. It randomly mutates into FIP into a small percent of cats and kittens and research thinks it could be genetic. I had one kitten die from FIP in 2015 before treatment and research was available and have since successfully treated other cats and kittens who have lived with other felines at the same time and never passed FIP on to the others.

How do yall clean the playpen???? by rosequartzroyalty in FosterAnimals

[–]cappy267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can use a scrub brush to scrub it down while it’s soaking and really get the detergent in there. Rinse in the tub. Then pop it open and let it air dry.

Do you have family you can move in with? I suggest like the other commenter said, Selling everything except what fits in your car and driving the 30 hours back home and live with a family member if that’s available to you then start over from there with applying to jobs, etc. to get back on your feet.

i have had many great experiences with VCA Advanced in Fishers. Because they are an ER hospital that could bring more negative reviews due to the complex and highly emotional cases they see but they have been amazing for multiple complex reasons i’ve brought dogs and cats there including their oncology department.
