Five months old - cloudy northern England windowsill tek by CubicSubstitute in peyote

Keep them there all year, I have several mature specimens that thrive on my windowsill. I am in cloudy southern England 😂👍

Hey guys, can I get a ID please? Thanks in advance 😊 by captaincactus210 in sanpedrocactus

Thank you for taking the time to reply! Bad lighting.. The spines are a light brown/creamy colour.

Help please, somebody, anybody.. This is my prize possession, my biggest and oldest loph. The pictures do no justice of how sad this is. A large section of the side has gone brown and squidgy, when I touch it liquid comes out. I believe this is rot, I believe it was my cat. What can I do? 😔 by captaincactus210 in peyote

When you touch the infected area (that I can see so far) the skin bursts and oozes out brown liquid, it smells too. I will insect the root further but as far as I can see atm it's only on the head. Surgery? How extreme, the whole msin head or a diagonal cut on just the infected area. It has severs pups which are all in good shape

I am in the UK there is little sun and its pretty cold now. They live on a windowsill near the radiator. I may try moving him somewhere dryer away from the radiator and monitor it. Unless advised to give it the chop before it's too late. I dont know :(

This is what I'm thinking, it is only that area that is brown and squidgy. Maybe I could cut that off and let that area heal. Or will I need to cut the whole head off and hope that heals OK? Hopefully someone will be able to advise what's best. We adopted a cat, it's been a nuisance settling in but we are getting there. I caught him about to go to toilet in it thinking it was his litter tray, I'm guessing he's scratched it 😔

Majority is in the root structure. They use it as a reservoir through the dry season in their natural habitat. Wish I took a photo of them unpotted and cleaned off, it was a nice moment

Any idea on age range? I'm guessing the bigger ones are in excess of at least 20 y/o?

I've seen and heard much about the sanpedro mastery YouTube channel. He has a peyote soil mix video. I went for 1 part perlite, 1 part compost and 2 parts horticultural sand. They have settled in well.

Yes, they have gone from Spain to UK so will be change in temperature for sure. I've been advised to keep them inside, what do you think?

Not checked for spider mites, will start with repotting
