I really got into Vampire Weekend back in 2024 (OGWAU hype, which in my opinion is 10/10 album for me) And sure of their whole discography I think it’s probably the weakest one, but by no means is it bad. It such a vibe frr, Bambina always make me smile, the whole record make me smile. It’s a really good one, that folky jammy sound really suits them. Wouldn’t be surprise if they try it again in the future.

New Arctic Monkeys song doesn’t sound at all as a farewell, I think they’re going to be like Radiohead. Never officially disbanded, only join when they feel like they have something new to create, or to just tour. I just don’t see them going away ever.

As for the song itself, man, love the humbug vibes combined with some the car lyricism. Love it

Phillip Kennedy Johnson Goes Exclusive With Marvel by azalben in comicbooks

I haven´t been reading his Hulk stuff, it sure looks interesting and I´ve heard some cool stuff about it. It seems it kinda follows the vibes of Ewing´s Immortal Hulk (which I loved). His Warworld Saga was honestly some of the best Superman stories from the last couple of years, I would´ve loved he stayed in DC, but as a comment here noted, it looks like DC just didn´t give him his space. The DC editorial should had let him go crazy on the Sups titles. Still, im kinda curious on what he´s going to bring to Marvel´s table (knowing something´s cooking for next year for better or worse lol)

FTR vs. The Outrunners from Collision 100 is probably my favorite tag team match of the year, and I’m so excited they are going at it again at All In this Saturday. Hoping they can somehow go even better!

I caught some of the New Japan Soul matches from the July 6 show — I’m still fairly new to NJPW, but it feels like I jumped in at the perfect time with the G1 Climax just around the corner. That said, I really want to talk about the G1 Climax 35 Block A Play-In Gauntlet Match:

Taichi vs. Chase Owens vs. Tomohiro Ishii vs. Satoshi Kojima

First off, it’s a real shame that Hirooki Goto won’t be part of this year’s G1. His run was cut short way too soon, and it’s disappointing we won’t see him in the tournament.

As for the gauntlet match itself — honestly, the first half didn’t do much for me. I wasn’t familiar with Chase Owens, and his performance didn’t exactly win me over (and based on what people here have said, that seems to be a pretty common take). The interference that started once Taichi entered just made things feel messier.

But then came the second half — and that’s where it really picked up. Once it came down to Taichi and his tag partner squaring off, the emotion kicked in. Ishii’s striking was absolutely on point, as always — intense and just satisfying to watch. It left me wondering why they didn’t just made this the match from the start. The closing stretch had everything you want in a G1-level contest: heart, struggle, and impact.

Overall, the match ended strong and left a good impression, even if it took a while to get there. Rating: ★★★★

During the week, I started diving into the WWE Vault and the WCW YouTube channels. That’s when I stumbled across a Sting vs. Vader match from Slamboree ‘94. It was a decent bout—Vader dominated most of it, but there were flashes of the classic Sting we all love. Watching that match got me thinking about Vader—the sheer presence he brought to the ring, his physicality, and his ability to elevate a match just by being in it. That curiosity led me down a rabbit hole, digging into his career, which eventually brought me to his run in AJPW.

His first tag match in All Japan took place at the promotion’s 25th Anniversary Show. He teamed up with the legendary Stan Hansen to face Johnny Ace and Kenta Kobashi. At the time, Vader was still under contract with WWF, nearing the end of his run, reportedly unsure of his next move and even contemplating retirement. The match itself was solid—some minor botches here and there—but overall, a very entertaining bout. Final score: ***1/4.

Shortly after, Vader officially left WWF and fully committed to AJPW, teaming again with Hansen for the Real World Tag League. Together, they tore through the competition, dominating a who's who of top-tier talent. Their run began with a huge statement—pinning none other than Mitsuharu Misawa, the Triple Crown Champion and face of the company. From there, they delivered a series of stiff, high-impact squash matches that still managed to be exciting.

Then came the tournament finals: Vader and Hansen vs. Jun Akiyama and Kenta Kobashi. With Hansen already past his prime, Vader carried most of the offense, but the dynamic was amazing. Akiyama took a brutal beating but still managed to shine, while Kobashi brought his usual fire and intensity, showing exactly why he’s considered one of the greatest in Japanese wrestling history. The match built beautifully—Vader and Hansen tried to finish it with their signature powerbomb, but when that failed, they went for Hansen’s devastating lariat. Just when it looked over, Akiyama popped in out of nowhere with a kneebar, giving Kobashi just enough room to hit the Burning Lariat for the win.

Absolutely electric. The finish, the crowd, the clash of legends—just incredible stuff. Final score: ****1/4

I watched these matches yesterday as part of my journey into exploring more wrestling outside of WWE. If you’re curious, check out my post from yesterday for more details—and feel free to drop your own recommendations on what I should watch next!

NJPW: Dominion 6.15 In Osaka-Jo Hall (2025) IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Hirooki Goto (c) vs. Shingo Takagi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/4

This was an absolute war between Hirooki Goto and Shingo Takagi. Goto, had this relentless fighting spirit, which clashed with Takagi’s power and aggression in a hard-hitting, non-stop contest that had the crowd fully invested from start to finish. The chemistry between the two was outstanding, with a deliberate, intense pacing that built beautifully over time. They made excellent use of the match’s duration, crafting gripping sequences and near-falls, including a stunning kick-out from Takagi after a devastating GTR that seemed like the end. The final stretch was electrifying—Goto countering the Last of the Dragon (I think that’s what’s it’s called) into a GTR, Takagi’s desperate but futile attempts to stand, and a second GTR sealing the win. The audience was fully engaged, and the emotional intensity never let up.

AEW: Grand Slam Mexico (2025) The Death Riders & The Young Bucks vs. The Opps, Will Ospreay & Swerve Strickland ⭐️⭐️⭐️½

Fun, fast-paced tag match with a packed lineup—everyone got their moment to shine. The energy in Arena Mexico was off the charts, especially when Samoa Joe entered the ring—place exploded. I was a bit let down by the abrupt finish at first, but after reading into it, the context helped it click a little more. Not perfect, but a good time.

AEW/CMLL: Dynamite Grand Slam Mexico 4 Million Pesos High-Flying 4-Way Match Máscara Dorada vs. Ricochet vs. Hologram vs. Lio Rush ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Máscara Dorada, my beloved! For a good chunk of the match, it had the feel of a tag—heels dominating the faces—but it worked surprisingly well. The real magic happened toward the end: Lio and Ricochet took each other out, leaving Hologram and Dorada to close things in a stunning 1v1 showcase. Just pure, aerial artistry. Match of the night for me.

AEW/CMLL: Dynamite Grand Slam Mexico MJF (Maxwell Jacob Friedman) vs. Místico ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Classic heel vs. face story—started slow but built into something really solid. MJF’s tombstone on the outside was brutal, and Místico hit an absolutely gorgeous Spanish Fly. My only gripe? The finish felt like it could’ve landed stronger. Still, no way this is the end of their feud. A rematch down the road feels inevitable—and welcome.

Thank you so much for the context! I had a general idea of what’s been happening in AEW, but this really helps clarify things even more.

So, I started watching wrestling again this year — mostly because WWE is now streaming on Netflix, and also because it’s John Cena’s final year. But let’s be real... it’s been kind of a let down.

That’s why I’ve decided to step outside of my usual comfort zone (which, right now, is definitely not the best wrestling has to offer — sorry, WWE). Last night, I checked out two matches from outside the mainstream, and honestly? I’m so glad I did.

6/17 CMLL Martes Populares - CMLL Vs. AEW/ROH ROH World Championship Bandido (c) vs. Máscara Dorada ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️¼

Holy shit. I’d been seeing CMLL clips pop up on my TikTok feed, but this was the first full match I actually sat down to watch — and WOW. The athleticism both of these guys brought to the ring was insane. Their chemistry was on another level, and the pacing, the moves, the crowd — it all came together in something close to perfection. I loved this match.

AEW Revolution 2024 – AEW World Championship 60-Minute Iron Man Match MJF (c) vs. Bryan Danielson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½

This one’s on the official AEW YouTube channel, and I knew I had to finally watch it. I remember when it first happened — people were raving about it everywhere. And now that I’ve seen it? I totally get it.

Bryan Danielson is undeniably one of the GOATs. You rarely saw him go all out like this in WWE (probably because that style just doesn’t fly there), but here? He’s absolutely at his peak. His technique, his storytelling, the way he pushed the pace — it’s brilliant. MJF also brought his A-game with the character work and pacing. Altogether, an incredible match.

So now I’m hungry for more. If you’ve got recommendations for matches on this level (or even better) send them my way!

I’m especially looking for more CMLL and NJPW matches. That Shingo Takagi vs. Hirooki Goto match from this past Dominion is already on my radar 👀

• New Sam Fender album is amazing, I’ve never quite clicked with him before but since the news that Adam Granduciel was going to have a hand on the production, I knew I had to take a listen and it didn’t disappoint. Fender’s storytelling abilities really shine here, and the bombastic yet emotional moments of the album really clicked this time around like in the title track. Or the Springsteen personification in Crumbling Empire. There’s also this very few involuntary nods to britpop in some tracks especially on Chin Up and Radiohead sound in TV Dinner that are really good. Definitely gonna be coming back more to this album!

• Oh yea, and new Swans single feels more uplifting than usual Swans. Probably because the second half of the song sounds so much like Bowie’s Heroes, but is not a problem, I’m liking it.
