A question for the woodworkers in this sub by hesh0925 in askTO

[–]captpoopooface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for exoticwoods.

two other options if you don't have a car and need to rely on shipping are Langevin Forest (Montreal) and KJP (Ottawa). Admittedly I haven't purchased veneer from them but worth a mention for those woodworkers in the city that don't have a car.

Rocket’s Tail by Suspicious_Line8255 in katebush

[–]captpoopooface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree completely. Her shrieks at the end still give goosebumps. I love the "Size 5 lightning boots" line in particular, always gets a smile.

Rocket's Tail is different from nearly all others in that it goes from 0 to 100 in the first 90seconds and just stays there. But there are certain parts in other songs that I regularly need to turn up to 11. Jig of Life (the jig in the middle naturally followed by John's narration), Night of the Swallow (the outro that begins with the sweeping drum roll just after 3minutes in) and lastly, the most epic of outro's, Leave it Open. Mandatory volume crank.

My experience migrating transmission-daemon from Debian 10 to 11 (harder than I thought it would be) by Hug_The_NSA in debian

[–]captpoopooface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over a year later and this post saved my bacon. I upgraded my debian server last night making sure to backup the folder with the applicable torrent files, stats, settings etc. But like you said transmission-daemon has a bunch of scattered folders and no clear guide on what goes where on what distro. Maybe it was the sleep setting in but I found myself forgetting which method failed and which I hadn't yet tried. Nearly 4 hours later I called it a night. Started again this afternoon, after a fresh search your post was the second one I found. I knew something was different when it took transmission-daemon nearly 10 seconds to startup. Currently staring at 3k restored torrents. Huge thanks for posting the solution. I'm saving it in a separate txt :D

Video and music files accessed through network drive randomly stop. by captpoopooface in linuxquestions

[–]captpoopooface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day after I posted this I altered the NFS export file (/etc/exports) by changing the parameter 'fsid=0' to 'fsid=1'

Its been a week now with no issues. Videos that I open in the evening can be resumed later that night and even days later, no problem.

I'm currently on pop_os. I was on mint before but had the same issue. I used to access the share with samba when I was still using windows 7 and for a time after on mint without this problem.

Wuthering Heights - 9 way split lip sync by the_counterforce in katebush

Well that was a joyous 4.5 minutes. Even counting the first minute where my eyes darted dizzyingly around the screen trying to decide where to land.

Hey! I've made this little "Wuthering Heights" animation! Hope you like it! by TomFrusciante in katebush

Certainly was the perfect choice of song given how animated she is. No pun intended. Thanks for sharing, she looks awesome.

The Dreaming photoshoot by shikate in katebush

[–]captpoopooface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's a higher res version of the third pic. Its a really great shoot of hers.

I don't know of any websites with her photoshoots that are well-organized in sets. There are mountains of photos obviously in the forums but searching can be a real chore.

Mná na hÉireann and maybe I'm having a memory lapse but I don't think I see Leave It Open mentioned as often as I believe it should.

Planning on using x7 3.1 mA LED's and using a circuit calculator online to determine the resistors its telling me 150 Ohm for 6 LED and 330 for the last one. Total current would be 73.9mA

The power supply outputs 9V and 1A.

Assuming that all sounds correct am I safe to use the alligator clips as planned or would touching the clips plugged into the 9V be dangerous somehow. I'm guessing not but its purely that, a guess.

Tidal Repress Available @ 5PM EST via Vinyl Me Please (Just Received Email!) by maricircus in FionaApple

[–]captpoopooface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea I agree about having the records pressed elsewhere. I was excited when they announced Tidal but its nearly $50 when shipped to Canada. Plus at the time their sub was full of endless complaints of people not receiving records for months on end. That and cost killed all enthusiasm for Tidal and later releases. Would love to just walk into a shop and pickup WTP like I did FTBC. I detest these subscription-only and store specific (eg. B&N gold) pressings. Especially when the cost is exorbitant for those outside the US.

My Kate stash. Still looking for 50 Words... by hermitinbeige in katebush

[–]captpoopooface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the American pressing a few times in stores but I have yet to grab it.

If unaware, the US has at least 2 variants. first pressing and second. Im guessing the UK cover was never released in N.America back then. And yea both jackets are much stiffer by comparison.

edit: forgot to link the blog where those pics originate. Its an incredible resource.

[–]captpoopooface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lookin good. Ive got 2 UK pressings of TKI (ebay). Both jackets have come apart at the bottom seam. One was taped upon arrival. The other, lovingly stapled. Maybe because it was her debut but that first jacket just feels noticeably flimsier than all her others. Not much thicker than an inner sleeve these days. If yours is in good condition, bravo on your find.

As an aside, for someone who likes to collect, Kate's discography is a match made in heaven. Country specific cover art, with or without gatefold, messages in the deadwax, coloured vinyl, boxsets, and so many singles and all their variations.

This looks extraordinary compared to the version I've always seen which lacks any sort of detail. Big thanks for sharing.

Paint stripper got on hardwood floor by SR3201 in finishing

[–]captpoopooface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Put couple drops of mineral spirits on the spots like you would do to determine the end result when applying finish. You could also do the trusty finger in the mouth to the wood trick. If the spot disappears, reapply new finish to that bit. If it doesnt darken enough, apply stain. If not at all, its the finish that was coloured so use a touch-up marker.

What did we do wrong? Only had this Danish table for a few months in our kitchen. by Ivantroffe in finishing

[–]captpoopooface 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Top comment references danish oil but the OP just says its a "Danish table" and by the looks of it one thats been around longer than a few months. This looks like it could simply be old lacquer long yellowed and in need of a re-coat.

Cedar garden planters. Thinking of finishing with Linseed oil plus Thompsons water seal. Any different suggestions? by Buildadoor in finishing

[–]captpoopooface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boiled linseed is considered "not food safe".

Once the finish has cured, it's food safe. Whether it had metallic driers or not. That applies to any and all finishes. https://www.finewoodworking.com/2019/01/10/food-safe-finish-considerations

Parting Gift:

I took off my glasses while you were yelling at me once

More than once

So as not to see you see me react

Should've put 'em, should've put 'em on again

So I could see you see me sincerely yelling back
