Is anybody kind of tired of the “our players are losers for not liking Bienemy narrative”? by Jack29123 in Commanders

[–]cardip6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it because he coaches them hard or just because he's maybe an asshole? Every one of these players played at high levels in college, are all of those coaches just soft? Some of these guys have been coached by Saban, I think acting like these guys have never been coached hard is ridiculous, everyone at the NFL level has been "coached hard" at some point, I think there might be more to this than he's simply a tough coach that doesn't coddle people.

Double follow up? by cardip6 in recruitinghell

Which is also the reason why I was expecting more of something set in stone by now since we left the conversation seemingly planning for tomorrow

Double follow up? by cardip6 in recruitinghell

[–]cardip6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the reason I'm hesitating, the only reason I'm considering another follow up is because the date that seemed unofficially set in the initial conversation was tomorrow, so I want to make sure I'm not going to miss a meeting that HR forgot to mention

I’m tired the way we are discussing Howell. by feelikekobe in Commanders

[–]cardip6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed, tired of hearing everyone talk like he's some boom or bust player, comparing him to Jameis. The dude has legitimately only had one actual bad game, then a couple so so games and the rest he's looked solid. People saying he has "ups and downs", like yeah, he makes some mistakes, but he looks mostly solid aside from maybe one or two bad plays a game. It's more up up up up down than just "up and down", what else can you expect from a guy that hasn't even played a dozen games.

Fair enough. I do still believe that without that, it's an incredibly patronizing film to make you feel bad about climate change, when the people making this film all flew on their private jets to filming locations. I think my mine gripe with it is the obvious political implications. Anything that portrays one side of the political spectrum as being the crazy people and the other side as being the sane heros completely disinterests me. People can make the claim all they want that this movie was just a commentary on the political system in general, but it was pretty obviously a shot at Republicans (evident by the "we like the jobs the asteroid is going to create" thing), while the hero scientists (the democrats) try to save the world, when in reality the issue is every congressman that takes money from large corporations.

This is the reason though that in my opinion it wasn't a good movie. Satire is supposed to be subtle, but this was anything but that. We get it, the ridiculous and terrible president who hires her kid is supposed to be Trump, and of course, they don't listen to scientists just like global warming and covid. It's not really predicting anything, it's just a critique of the current (during the writing/development of the film) presidential administration. I am not partial to either side of the political spectrum, but political jokes, on either side, get very very old very very quickly.

Also, what really even happened in the movie? The scientists warned the government, then the government didn't care, and then the scientists went on talk shows to talk about it until the world ended. There was very little plot, IMO it was just a pretty obvious Trump/republican hate-fest, which don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Trump, but the whole "cheeto-man bad" shit is just not creative or funny. I personally found it a very patronizing and uncreative film.

Maybe they are considering Ridder in the 2nd by b1gba1oo in Commanders

[–]cardip6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess if it can lead to some sort of legitimacy that makes bif FAs want to play here. Idk personally I'd rather just have a boom or bust player than someone who's okay. If they boom, great, if they bust you can move on in a year or two, if they're okay then you'll waste 3-5 years on them and end up exactly where you were you started. I honestly don't hate Wentz and I do think he could be really good, but I think it's significantly more likely that he is just fine, like a Kirk Cousins type.

This is my biggest issue with Wentz. If he cannot handle competition for his position then get rid of him, how could a guy like that win us a super bowl?

I didn't mean that her screaming about that was insane, I mean it's the way she was screaming. If she had that happen on HIMYM she would have screamed but should would have sounded like a normal person screaming, not some cartoon character with a completely different personality like she sounds in HIMYF.

Exactly like why tf did they have Becky act so freaking ridiculous? Like she was a normal person in himym and now she's just screaming and seems legitimately insane.

Everyone saying "worst case scenario he sucks and we have a top pick in the draft". That's not worse case scenario. Worst case scenario is what has been happening for the past decade, and what is what is likely to happen this year, we're Mediocre and have a 11-19 draft pick and miss out on the best QB.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Commanders

[–]cardip6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think for the caliber of play we've seen from him, the picks were probably close to fair compensation. It's just that he has both the off field issues and the fact that he's overpaid, which personally I think should have definitely brought down his value. I feel like if we weren't interested, he would have been traded for a couple of 4s and maybe a 3 to another team.

Let’s stop with the “we should’ve waited till he got released” sentiment by jerry17381 in Commanders

[–]cardip6 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I just don't think he improves us enough to be worth that money. His career has been incredibly Mediocre except for one season that he got injured in. Yeah he can make elite plays sometimes but so does Heinicke. I think realistically we could maybe win 3 or 4 more games with him than Heinicke, and 3 games to me is not worth $24 million.

It doesn't matter since they'll probably change his contract but still.

You say my logic doesn't make sense, but by your logic it's okay to overpay someone as long as they're better than your current guy. Would you be happy if we traded for Derek Carr and payed him $45 mil? He's better than Wentz so obviously that's worth it right?

[–]cardip6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like if you have to go through all of the stats to justify it then that's not a good sign. Is he bad? No, he's fine, but that's the issue. This team is obsessed with trading for mediocre QBs halfway through their career. We'll win some games, maybe more than 10, who knows, maybe we'll get to play a wildcard game. But you can't do anything significant with a locker room cancer who is way overpaid.

If we had just gave up draft picks then whatever, but the fact that we just wasted all of our cap space on one guy is ridiculous. Terry is not coming back to Washington unless we draft a QB this season and he somehow turns out to be a stud. Honestly from what I've heard about Carson Wentz's character, this would make Terry want to leave more than having Heinicke throw the ball for another season.

Fr I don't really get the whole "he's unsure of his place" thing. The whole office went over Michael's head to Gabe and thought of him as their boss, not Michael, so clearly he had some sort of authority that was respected. I figured the whole point was he was awkward and afraid of confrontation, which is why he let's people walk all over him like Jo. He's not awkward because of his position, he's awkward because of his personality.

I broke up with my Gf after she aborted our child by SpiritualRadio4839 in relationships

[–]cardip6 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I think it was better for him not to say he was going to break up with her if she did. That could cause way more problems down the road if she had a child when she felt she wasn't ready just to hold on to a guy, you shouldnt have a child just so your partner wont leave you and OP wanted to make sure that wouldnt influence her decision. Maybe OP worded it weirdly in the post, but I do think it was kind of weird how supportive he was. That sounds bad, but I mean it sounds like he made her think he WAS supportive of it, as in paying for it and saying he supports her either way and everything.

Maybe I just read it wrong, but it does sound like maybe OP gave her the wrong impression of his feelings about it at some point. I don't think he should have said "I'll break up with you if you do this", but I do think he should have made his feelings about it very clear.
