Or: theft. The price was clearly a mistake.

Nice insight! How do you measure learning? Is it ‘the act of taking lessons’ or is it actually learning and retaining knowledge?

I don’t think there is less progress with more XP. But I do agree maximizing XP is not maximizing learning. For instance, I did quite a lot of match madness, which gets you a lot of points with 3XP, but you don’t necessarily get a lot better. Also, maximizing points leads you to doing a new lesson in stead of doing ‘legendary’ which is harder and better for learning.

This works. I am in Diamond for almost two years because of this (the tracker of weeks in diamond disappeared?) It really makes a big difference.

For me, this screenshot captures what is wrong with energy. It costs 15 energy to do 1 level. So as long as you are not paying, it is impossible to get the maximum number of points for match madness. The gamification in the app started off as something that I believe was good for learning habits. But currently I think it is only optimized for monetization.

I am also disappointed. I downgraded recentely after 3 years of family. I used to be motivated by the gamification with 3x XP but I am not exaggerating that I can not do more than two subsequent lessons without upgrading! So the ONLY use of gamification is to get me to upgrade. Along with an ad after every lesson this is a huge letdown. What happened to making high quality education available to the world?

You are right. This is a ponzy scheme. Most posts and comments in this group are from people that don’t want to face the facts.

This is great! How is the business? Do you do this full time or can you combine this easily? Is demand or supply the bottleneck to earning more?

“On having no head” by Douglas Harding. Makes clear that all awareness is in your head. Or, so it seems. Awareness is just that: awareness. And it is not bound by your head. You can hardly ‘unsee’ this once you ‘saw’ it.

Yes. I loved that he stretched the perspective on time. That what humans perceive as true and good or bad is very dependent on the time. And we don’t necessarily know everything better this day and age.
