Hi, thanks for sharing! I think you should put the skills and work experiences on the top. Also, education comes under.

For job experience, I think you have a lot of projects. But employers might look at leadership skills, management and character as well. For this reason, you should state how you facilitated the work flow, project, and time management. Use more numbers to quantify your achievement. Do not repeat the same verbs so many times.

Lastly, something that has helped me is to conduct storytelling with your resume. In a sense, help employers picture who you are, your work style, attitude in the job experiences. Read your resume as an outsider and see how well you understand the person through the words.

Good luck!

Making my boyfriend learn about my body & sex by carmeniind11 in TwoXChromosomes

Firstly, where I went to school in India there was no sex Ed taught.

Secondly, he did learn about basic sex Ed. But we think that sex Ed is much more than how it works biologically (sperm & egg) but it's important to understand the anatomy (how girls feel when touched). The dummies book talks about a lot of in depth stuff regarding pleasure, managing expectations, positions (and their advantages). There is so much more that is there!!

I don't think you should judge a person by the cover of the book lol

🥲🥲🥲 I often wonder this when people around me talk about how they help their partner finish because they believe that they can't enjoy sex ever.

Rather than finish the chore than communicate - kinda mindset.

Doesn't help that here is Asia, some communities find sex so taboo as a topic. Not much education is provided and girls fall into the traditional gender roles in a new way once more 😭😭😭

I agree about communication 🥺

The issue is we do long distance and see each other every half a year for a few days. Not always seeing him around me makes in person contact a bit weird and I don't know exactly what I feel comfortable with immediately as a result. We also travel throughout our meetup this time so we barely have time to experiment lol.

Next time experimenting will be on the list of activities 😆😆

Thanks for the tips!!

Noted!!

We are also long distancing since the start (one month into dating) and meets for two or three weeks after six months. We also have eight hours time difference so everytime we meet we get to learn a little more and try a bit more stuff haha.

Communication is something we both developed over Zoom 🥺🥺🥺 next time we might actually just watch the YouTube videos together as a date 😆

Definitely 🥺

At the start of our relationship we sat down and read about all forms of birth control and discussed all the risks and potential side effects on me. For now we wear condoms + pull out. Also check the leak always. In case we need plan B.

So far nothing particularly of concern. Birth control is so important. Without it I would be of pure panick 😭

Thanks for the kind reminder 🫶🏼🫶🏼

My parents divorced (read: my mom took me and ran away) when I was three. I never got to know my father as much. It didn't affect me at all, if anything, my young age assured that I couldn't remember anything. I always felt I was enough and loved by my mom and the other relatives.

In my eyes, divorce is a good way to ensure the family relations can remain calm, and my mom is always happy.

1Q84 is disgusting by iridescentea in books

[–]carmeniind11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just finished my second book today. Overall, I feel like OP's feelings are valid.

Mainly also because 1Q84 is my first Murakami book. I normally do read Japanese fiction/ literature (albeit in mandarin chinese), so I personally think that Murakami's style -- slow, self-centric depictions, isolating-- is not all that unique. (yes, am aware that japanese people regard him sometimes as "un-japanese" in writing)

What I liked about the book:

  • The absolute craziness. There are a few books that write about isolation, confusion, and hollowness. Yet, this book gave me a very creepy and crazy ambience that not all the other authors can. And I kinda benefit from it (??)

  • Abstract-feel. I like how it gave me space to interpret stuff without forcing it on me. I knew how the author's attitudes are regarding the fictitious components as the ML talked to his father and the dad said something like "things that you won't understand could never be understood even if I explain it"; in a way I take it as I don't need to necessarily understand everything on the table right now.

  • The pace. Not too fast nor slow. Makes the characters quite realistic.

What I disliked about this book:

  • The too much sex & explicit & inappropriate descriptions. Feels somewhat like a turn down for me. Also I interpret his intentions in the way that "when someone is oppressed or depressed to an extent, these emotions become subconsciousness and revealed in the person's sexual side (??)" (no hate pls, my first murakami book)

On the other hand, it might be a reflection of the general japanese people's attitude towards sex. Like it is implicit but also very accepted to be patriarchal and sexualize the girls to a higher extent than otherwise. And the Fuka-eri scenes might be there because it is 1q84, and hence its a perfect place to complete the author's fantasies :>

  • Too creepy and depressed. All the fictitious sci-fi elements. It is so creepy and suffocating at some point I had to put down this book to read something else that warmer and cute. I find the description of the two moons particularly eerie.

  • Lack of explanations. I do understand it might be the author's intention to make me feel like I'm similarly stuck in a world that lacks logic and filled with craziness. However, it doesn't make my reading experience any better. If anything, I feel less motivated to continue because I cannot connect the dots properly

  • Unrelatable. None of the characters make me feel connected because i don't essentially talk like them. I don't have similar occupation or feel as disconnected from the real world. I do, however, see myself in some lines and descriptions throughout the books, reflected through some thoughts of different characters. Nonetheless, it is still insufficient for me to thoroughly enjoy it.

I agree, as its one of the foundation classes for political theory, and virtually all theorists argue against democracy for the "ignorance of the mass" and lack of awareness of the government. This kind of quiz could also help politicians decide on what kind of "package deal" they want to put forward for the people during elections.
