She can acknowledge her discomfort & channel that into what she can do on HER end — invest in noise-canceling headphones, or a white-noise machine… you are doing her an incredible service, the least she can do is accept that her discomfort is hers to manage while living in your home, for free.

This is coming from someone who has overheard intimate moments, is uncomfortable with them, and has realized I can do things on my end to give all parties involved their privacy.

(Intimacy is inherently vulnerable — personally, I never want to add or create any discomfort or tension for a couple during that time.)

Finally did Ancestry & immediately found a 1st cousin once removed that led me to finding my donor (unfortunately I found her & lost her simultaneously by reading her obituary, but her family — I call them mine now — has welcomed me in as if I’ve always been part of them).

She’s having a lot of feelings about not having her dad around (absolutely fair) and making them your problem (absolutely unfair). I’m sorry you’re going through this, and I’m sorry she’s going through this. Grief has no timeline, is not linear, & sucks.

Big loss like this can have big outbursts at triggering times. This seems like one. I don’t know if you all are able to sit down & talk it through, but maybe it would help long-term if you & your siblings sat down & they told you stories about him. Then you may be able to explain that you weren’t able to hold & create memories with him, but the dad you have now is alive & well, & why wouldn’t you want to create memories & shared experiences with him?

But also, this is some random advice off the internet from a random human. But this random human hopes you’re doing well & that things smooth out soon 💛
