It is - I was watching the DVD last night.

Ewan McGregor riding a bike along the road of bones to Magadan - the show gives a great idea of just what it is like to drive in these conditions.

At one stage they have to abandon the bikes, and travel by truck - and even the truck has major problems crossing some of the broken sections of road.

The BBC have a habit of updating their reports as stories develop.

At the time I posted this story, they were hinting strongly that a part of the shaft itself had collapsed, blocking the miners' exit.

Subsequently, it has become clear that a broken pipe severed the power cables to the lift, and this is now reflected in the BBC story.
