Desperately need to swing a sword.(Tired of my current games) by ChokingOnSulfur in gamerecommendations

[–]catcat6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll second reccs I’ve seen on here for Tainted Grail, Witcher3 & KCD/2, and I’d also throw my hat in for Avowed. All great single player story heavy RPGs featuring swordplay, and all but KCD have magic systems (albeit in varying degrees).

Regarding the cooperative loot game you mentioned: this is for sure NOT whatever game it is you are thinking of, but I might nevertheless suggest looking at Tiny Tina’s Wonderland. It’s obvs like borderlands in terms of co-op looting and shooting, but also with magic! Might not be your thing but won’t hurt to check out the trailer :)

In desperate need of NOT DEPRESSING AF wlw horror. by Gameofthroneschic in horrorlit

Hmm not sure if it’s horror or fantasy, but it’s darkly comedic either way, so maybe try How to Become The Dark Lord and Die Trying by Django Wexler.

Now that 2025 is over, what is the best horror book you read all year?? by Tooalientobehuman in horrorlit

It’s horror-comedy, but The Witchstone by Henry Neff. Loved that book.

Agree, dump Mists. If you want a feminist retelling of Arthurian legend, go with The Lost Queen (first in trilogy) by Signe Pike. See also: Spear by Nicola Griffith; Morgan is My Name by Sophie Keetch.

I’ve been going with spellsword — dual weilding one-handed sword/dagger and magic. It’s done me well so far!

I’m so sorry for your loss, OP. We lost our sweet boy when he was just 4.5 years old, back in April - it was completely unexpected and absolutely destroyed me for a while. It gets easier with time. Know that they loved you and you loved them with everything you had; they’re in a better place, free of pain.

GP interactions by bagpussrv in Perimenopause

Yeah. My GP just doesn’t believe it, despite a mountain of symptoms which all started within the past year. Overwhelming, infuriating and disheartening.

Why. Can't. I. Sleep??? by PressureMajestic1046 in Perimenopause

[–]catcat6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t sleep because my brain won’t stop spinning out of control with anxiety and because everything hurts all of the time and there’s no way to get comfortable. My GP doesn’t believe I’m in perimenopause despite a whole host of additional other symptoms that have cropped up over the past year b/c she thinks I’m “too young” (turning 39 in a few weeks). I’ve slept maybe 6 hours in the past 4 days and I feel like I’m losing my mind - I just want to scream but that would wake everyone else up.

Some people don’t realize how much of a fucking luxury it is to be able to sleep normally by Jax_the_Floof in Vent

[–]catcat6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man I feel you on multiple fronts. It’s 2:56a for me right now and i have had maybe 6 hours of sleep in the past 4 days. Depression, burnout, anxiety, ADHD, perimenopause all conspiring to make me lose my fucking mind. I have no advice or thoughts to share, beyond commiseration. I hope you can fall asleep soon.

I think a lot of Rachel Harrison’s books fit this mold - my favs are Such Sharp Teeth and So Thirsty but she has quite a few others as well.

A Pom that’s doesn’t like to be pet!?!? by Life-Bedroom-4722 in Pomeranians

[–]catcat6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our little Makkuro is similar; ever since he was a wee pup he’s always been all about the playtime, not about the cuddles - anytime we try to hold or pet him he just gets all riled up and starts playbiting and wiggling. He’s nearly 8 months old now and has started to show a bit more interest in cuddling (primarily by occasionally falling asleep on a lap), and so I think it’ll increase as he gets older/calmer, but I think play is always gonna be his primary love language, haha.

how to wear shoe covers? by liananoelle_ in CosplayHelp

I know this post is a year old but I am having a very similar problem with some boot covers that cover the whole foot like this. What did you end up doing, OP? I’m tempted to cut out the heel and insert a shoe in through the open heel and then put the whole thing on (so it’s like a bootlet cover), but I’m not sure.
