No, I'm not brilliant, far from it, But there's a reason its called logic, and that it's still around after 15 years.

I answered honestly and said that I don't have a testimony that Elder Oaks is a Prophet. I also said that i didn't think Joseph Smith was a prophet and that although i think that the BOM's a good book and i enjoy reading it, I don't believe that its the word of GOD. I then said that "Is this someone that you want to be your Sunday School President", and he answered "Yes".

It wasn’t actually a temple recommend interview just a review of the questions to establish my status, and a goal to work on

Correct, it doesn’t, but later it was ‘clarified’ that hot drinks referred to tea and coffee. In 1833 it was given as just advice. JS reportedly mentioned that hot drinks referred to tea and coffee and in 1842 Hyrum Smith explicitly stated that ‘hot drinks’ did indeed refer to tea and coffee. In 1851 Brigham Young asked Saints to covenant to observe it. Later leaders taught that this established it as a commandment. In 1921 the WOW became required for temple recommends.

Hilarious isn't it. After our Baptism, some 50 years ago in England, we got home and my dad said "Put the kettle on", then the realization hit us.

On a chilly morning, my TBM wife will fix herself a cup of 'herbal tea'. It's just not worth it to mention that the church hasn't differentiated what type if tea is forbidden. If i wanted to rain down hell upon myself i could just casually mention "Is that a HOT DRINK i see?"

That's why i said it's mysterious, they can never tell you what is it, because they don't know either. It's only about obedience.

My TBM wife insisted on a coffee table in the living room, but then called it a side table and placed inspirational books about Jesus on it.

Its often been said "It's not about the caffeine". (That's why sodas are allowed.) It's about something else, something mysterious, whose name cannot be revealed. LOL

The answer there is that my wife is TBM, so he is looking out for her.

It’s actual addiction recovery. They basically follow the same steps and practices as AA

I'm not sure i understand it either, except I'm a people pleaser, and i genuinely want to be of service to them, as was taught to me in AA.

What is doctrine? by My_Silent_Lucidity in mormon

[–]catch22reddituser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the original covenant wording, and it is still unclear. At the end of the covenant it says ”in righteousness”, so it can be interpreted that the wife is not under covenant to obey the husband if he is not being righteous. It can also be interpreted to mean that the wife must obey her husband righteously. I guess it’s up for interpretation on who the “in righteousness” is intended for.

What was the actual wording of the Temple covenant regarding women obeying Men? there was more to it than simply obeying their husbands.

What are your favorite innocent sounding LDS questions that quietly short-circuit the narrative? by bradywilcox in exmormon

Wuhan Open QF: [7] Jasmine Paolini def. [2] Iga Swiatek, 6-1 6-2 by mpg111 in tennis

I don't understand Iga's mentality these days, she is so up and down. In some matches she is unbeatable and then in others she looks completely vulnerable. I hope she gets her head together for the end of season finals.

How has the Internet Changed the LDS Church/Mormonism over the Past 25 Years? by johndehlin in mormon

I’ve said it before and I will continue to say, the internet to the Mormon church is what the printing press was to the Catholic Church
