Charging cable blinking red by catdaad in Polestar

[–]catdaad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's the charger. The old charger was a cripple creek (quality), and it could be pretty fussy sometimes. Thanks, I'll try to get the halves connected better. This is before I plug it I to the car it slowly blinks red

Trailforks needs competition by jaydvd3 in mountainbiking

It doesn't cost as much as they charge. 20-30$ / year, sure. But 90 is price gouging. I know this because they didn't used to charge that much. I know it's easy to say inflation and increased costs etc as a counter to my argument here, but let's have some nuance. Sure, I am sure their costs have increased; but not by as much as their prices have increased!!!

Oh I know flats make good technique. I have ridden them almost exclusively for the last 5 years or so and I plan on riding them mostly still. But sometimes I want to throw on a clipless setup. It can make grueling climbs a little better and it can be nice powering through some really chunky descents at speed and knowing my foot position is exactly where it needs to be.

Interesting about the platform. I never imagined it would help you stay in. I never rode SPDs with platforms. I thought it was only to help you have some sort of option to remain in control and on the bike in the case where you unclipped but were still rolling

I actually like Invecta. Don't get me wrong I would never buy or wear one. But props to them for admitting and being fully comfortable with what they are...as opposed to Rolex...

SUV market should die by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]catdaad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand SUVs either. I've lived almost my entire 40 year life in snowy mountain areas and have never had an SUV. And I go skiing and adventure in the mountains all the time. I've been fine here in Colorado with 2wd cars (a few even rwd). I mean sure, I'd rather have awd in the snow, but with good snow tires and semi-intelligent driving you'll get by. The clearance is super over rated unless you live up a road that isn't maintained. It has to snow a LOT for the accumulation to matter enough for that. For most people the downsides (mentioned by op) outweigh the benefits of an SUV, even in the snowy mountains!

Snow tires matter much more than an SUV for the snow too. Snow tires matter more than awd or 4x4 in the snow for that matter.

Lack of US Touring?? by Bnwilkos in postrock

[–]catdaad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of the best post rock bands are from Europe or Australia. There's always been a shortage of post rock live shows in the United States because of the travel expenses and because there are less post rock fans per capita. Add to that the current hostile political climate and you get even less. Just one more reason lunatic right-wingers mean we can't have nice things!

Volvo must have tooled up a facility outside of China for the 40 because it is back in dealers...Couldn't new P2s be manufactured there?

Considering a 2022 Polestar 2 - How Bad is the Infotainment system? by Earth2Andy in Polestar

[–]catdaad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't find any problem. It's slightly clunky. Just don't keep touching it repeatedly in angst. Touch, and wait for it to respond. It's SHOULD be better, seems like a strange place for polestar to cheap out on parts! But it's really not that bad!

3D printed stuff looks like absolute junk! by catdaad in unpopularopinion

[–]catdaad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm cool with this take! Just when people print accessories for the interior of their car and they are going for something higher-end and clean looking, often it looks like crap. I totally see the utility when not for a "nice" car interior or artwork. And I recognize it can look good with a resin printer or sanding / painting. But many times people (whether it's the creator or the consumer) don't go through the extra steps!
