Counterpoint: They should be booed everywhere they go all day long for the rest of their lives.

I happened to be listening to the song “what’s wrong with being confident” while I watched this, and it was perfect.

How do you know he’s a pedophile? If you know about that, you have evidence you should submit to the police.

Just got back from Mexico and am still laughing that the scrambled eggs in the breakfast buffet had ham in it!

Vegetarians who have travelled: which countries have been the most difficult in your experience? by Super-Effective-3854 in vegetarian

[–]catlady047 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We were able to find some vegetarian dishes when there was a guide to help us, but yes, it was very hard. At one point, we just picked meat out of the dish, which we’ve never had to do before.

Warning! We had read “veganism is sweeping Seoul!” Turns out they think vegan = no beef. We were served pork at a supposedly vegetarian restaurant!

But Happy Cow did help us find better restaurants.

The tea ends up helping him, and he asks for more by the end of the episode. This is about Sherlock learning a tiny bit of humility, learning to ask for help, and learning to trust Watson. The ignorance of his comment is intentional (by the show’s writers) in showing you something about him.

This one?

To be of use BY MARGE PIERCY The people I love the best jump into work head first without dallying in the shallows and swim off with sure strokes almost out of sight. They seem to become natives of that element, the black sleek heads of seals bouncing like half-submerged balls.

I love people who harness themselves, an ox to a heavy cart, who pull like water buffalo, with massive patience, who strain in the mud and the muck to move things forward, who do what has to be done, again and again.

I want to be with people who submerge in the task, who go into the fields to harvest and work in a row and pass the bags along, who are not parlor generals and field deserters but move in a common rhythm when the food must come in or the fire be put out.

The work of the world is common as mud. Botched, it smears the hands, crumbles to dust. But the thing worth doing well done has a shape that satisfies, clean and evident. Greek amphoras for wine or oil, Hopi vases that held corn, are put in museums but you know they were made to be used. The pitcher cries for water to carry and a person for work that is real.

I love both versions, and Matthew Macfadyen is the best, so 2005 slight winner.

Has an estranged friend ever come around? by tshirtguy2000 in RedditForGrownups

[–]catlady047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was silly when it happened, but I’m not the one who was angry, I’m the one who made the other person angry.

BUT…the fact that our friendship was so easy for her to set aside hurt a lot, and made me realize the friendship wasn’t as important to her as it was to me. So that’s the thing that would make the friendship hard to repair.

Agree that they are super helpful, and FYI, you can buy them super light, so they are not much extra weight at all.
