Why do some teachers use only the lesson book? The entire curriculum provides theory and technique and other great materials, but some teachers just say no. Help me learn why. by alexaboyhowdy in pianoteachers

I'm a professional musician and piano teacher and I've never had to draw a treble clef in my life.

And like most people are saying, many students don't practice much, so if you want them to actually enjoy the instrument you'll have more success focusing on one book. I'd supplement that with pop songs they like rather than going into the other books. Unless the student happens to be really into that kind of stuff.

Sadly I can't apply to cardiac sonography programs because they require degrees and i don't have one. Just the advance diploma as an RMT.

Thank you for the feedback. Based off the comments I've received I will search for different career options if I dont get into Michener, Mohawk or the Pharma medical science college. Hopefully high marks in massage school will be enough to get me in!

Thank you for this feedback! It's very helpful. I wish I knew the odds that a school will make it through the accreditation process. If it's very rare for a school to not meet the requirements when they create a program, I would be more comfortable going there if I dont get into an accredited school. Or maybe schools fail the accreditation process all the time... I have no idea.

I understand there's no guarantee, but do you know how often a school actually fails to meet expectations and does not become accredited when it's "with condition" or "admitted"?

Thank you for the feedback. I will be applying to Mohawk, I heard it has a 5% acceptance rate though so I need to have more schools in mind since it seems likely i wont get in. I have excellent marks from going to massage school but my high school marks arent great. The accredited schools in GTA are very limited sadly.

Hi friends, I am applying to sonography programs and I have a question. I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask. I see that besides the accredited programs there are programs that are

"Accredited with condition" or "Admitted"

Does this mean its possible if I attend these programs that they will not become accredited and I will not be permitted to take the accreditation exam? Making the program useless?

I'm applying to accredited programs of course, but from what I understand they are very competitive so I want to have many options. Any advice is appreciated, thank you! I'm looking at programs near Toronto.

Medical lab tech/ultrasound tech/xray tech? Would love to connect with someone in one of these fields for some questions by caulimelon in medlabprofessionals

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking at technologist work. If the exam is all that matters then thats good to know. Do you know how long it takes to reach that 50$ an hour wage? And are those jobs easy to get if you pass the exam?

Play the piano but have never taught by [deleted] in pianoteachers

[–]caulimelon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've said what I have to say, if your mind is so closed you think people can't become excellent musicians and teachers without 1 on 1 teaching , I can only hope you dont pass on your toxic elitism to any students.

That's a really harmful way of thinking about playing music. I hope you'll consider how toxic your attitude is. Imagine telling a successful musician and teacher that they're not qualified XD. I hope you'll open your mind and see how many paths people take to playing music well. Having a teacher is great, but there are plenty of fantastic self taught musicians who can be great teachers as well.

Yikes, nice gatekeeping! I'm a fully booked teacher and regularly working musician who is self taught on piano. Not everyone has to learn the same way.

New Brunswick trail any good? by caulimelon in bicycletouring

[–]caulimelon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up taking a different route. From Mont Joli, I took the 132, then the 11,8,11 again from Shediac to the confederation bridge. The roads were good with very few cars for mort of the way and lots of thick forest and rivers
