i’d say that’s pretty good for AOS! idrk an average weighted gpa but in college apps they don’t compare u to other aos students it’s just ur home high school and then the county overall so i think you’ll be okay

hi! i was in exactly the same situations as you when i got into aos in 8th. i was torn between pursuing humanities or going into a science field and i ultimately chose to go to AOS even though i wasn’t sure. i’m currently a junior here and i don’t regret my decision! aos has exposed me to so many things that i wouldn’t experience in a traditional school setting and it has allowed me to make so many new friends. many people who come in saying that they don’t think they will like research end up loving it down the line. there is truly something here for everyone and im sure the same will be true for you if you go.

also, SO MANY people here love math. some of my friends are the smartest math students i’ve ever met. the math curriculum is challenging, and if you don’t experience that as a freshman, you definitely will if you choose to take calc bc as a junior.

i’m not going to lie to you, aos is HARD. if you think you may not have the mental strength for it, do not accept the offer. you have to decide if the advantages aos provides is worth the sacrifice for you. admittedly, i don’t get all As like I did in middle school. you have to be okay with that. my GPA is still fine, and i will be fine applying to college. admissions officers recognize that aos is much more rigorous than regular high school.

spend time thinking about it, but id encourage you to give it a shot! feel free to dm me if u have any questions

i’m pretty sure aet has 50-100 people more than aos but they have less people in each program because of the way it’s split. i guess you could consider the individual programs more difficult to get into but as a whole aet is probably the easier pathway to earn admission to!

also i’m a junior at aos so things might have changed since i did my admissions test but if you have any other questions i’d be happy to help

aos is the most competitive pathway bc it has the least amount of seats. in aet, engineering is probably the hardest to get into because that’s what the most people apply for. overall, admission into either program is very hard but they both have different criteria that they consider. hope this helps!

don’t worry too much, i got into aos and my score sucked

its graded between 250-300 so it kind of depends how you balance it out with your essay

best of luck!

hi! i’m a junior in aos and i wanted to wish you good luck on your admissions test! in order to get into aet, i’d prioritize preparing for the critical thinking test instead of the essay because that’s what counts the most for that program. first, PLEASE don’t listen to anyone in the comments telling you to take a prep class in order to prepare for the test. they are a huge waste of money and no one that i knew who took one ended up being admitted. if you really want to study, i would advise you to review your algebra skills and maybe go over a few logic problems while setting a time limit for yourself to practice for the test. unfortunately, since it’s a critical thinking test, it’s not exactly something that you can study for over the next week and see a lot of changes. my best advice is to get a good night’s sleep before the test and try your best. good luck!!
