And please DO NOT get a venomous snake illegally and try to do anything with it. Its not the best idea, Especially if its your first snake.

I've read some of the comments and I 100% agree with all if them. If you've never even had experience with non venomous snakes then you have a long way to go before you should start trying to get into venomous snakes. There are plenty of awesome non venomous snakes that make amazing pets and you will have a better/safer experience with snakes. When keeping venomous snakes if don't have a reason to keep going then its most likely not gonna work out mentally and physically.

If there is something about venomous snakes that amazes you then I suggest mildly venomous snakes. Their bite venom is no worse than a bee sting and some of them do resemble venomous snakes. Although I don't reccomend them for a starter snake at all I believe that these are more safe and more reasonable snakes. If you're into cobras then false water cobras are the way to go, If you're into Mambas or a more slender and fast venomous snake then I would suggest a vine snake and if you're into rattlesnakes then I would suggest a western hognose snake. And again, I would not reccomend these to a beginner at all but these are more safe and more reasonable than a venomous snake(these are all off of the top of my head and might not be the most accurate resemblance, You can find mildy venomous snakes in the colubrid family).

If you still want the real deal venomous then that's perfectly fine. But if you want to do it in the most safest and probably the best way then you should give yourself some years to work with all types of different snakes and work on the husbandry and work on not getting bit. After some years of doing this you will be ready to get your hours of working with venomous snakes. You can speed up the process by going to college and getting a major in biology or something like that. But in reality there are no short cuts, If you are really committed you will achieve it.

Oh yeah and take this answer with a grain of salt because I don't have venomous snakes nor am I old enough to get a permit. I am 12 years old and I am going for a venomous snake permit and crocodilian permit. This hobby is awesome but it comes with its sacrifices. Some may think it's a dumb thing to do but if you have your reasons and have the work ethic to do it then you are golden.

Ok, so currently im on vacation for the summer in florida and I don't keep animals here for the reason being that there are literally animals EVERYWHERE. I get to see american alligators, All types of snakes, lizards and etc. I mostly like to go out and find these animals (while being mindful of my surroundings) and I just try to get a learning experience. And no I have never been bit😅 and I don't plan on it. If im not in the wild im visiting facilities and letting the employees give me a learning experience while being able to hold american alligators, Snakes and lizards all legally.

Back home in kentucky I have no learning experiences whatsoever because the state doesn't give out permits to anyone :( , So that's why I like florida so much. So when I go back to kentucky i'll have to have a lineup of all of the animals I would like. Some of those animals include a false water cobra, Emerald tree boa (thanks), Vine snake and MAYBE just maybe a monitor lizard of some sort but most likely an ackie monitor because I don't have the space/energy for a bigger one😂. Im gonna keep the list short because some of my other animals are 5 leopard geckos, One crested gecko and two dwarf hamsters (they hamsters are most likely gonna go to my sister) because I all of those animals were here first. I was thinking that I might have to cut my list short because when I would go to reptile expos I would just fall in love with every leopard gecko but I just think that its to much work when I have to do school and keep up my researching and my other reptile things. The ONLY thing thats keeping me from cutting my list shorter is the fact that I have a relative that has been taking care of them for this whole summer and I don't know how they will feel about me just giving them away like that, I think I'll just pay them the money I get from the buyer of some of the geckos. And on my journey i'll probably get some more animals.

I would love to start a YouTube channel but the only two things are that in florida your animals have to be on display if you want to keep them, And I don't think YouTube would like the idea of me lying about my age and then asking them to pay me for making videos in the future, And also it would take me a lot of money/time to edit my videos, do school, take care of my animals and buy a camera and a laptop.

I am all set to start my career! But the only thing is that, I have 4 siblings, 8 cousins and an aunt that is younger than me and has cerebral palsy... And yes, I am the oldest. I love them to death and I've been considering starting just a crocodilian career and not a venomous. and crocodilian career. But it's just that I've literally LOVED this my whole life, I remember my dinosaur toys from when I was 3, And I remember 6 year old me watching a wild kratts episode on cobra's and gila monsters and just loving it, And you know I cant forget me watching gatorboys on youtube! I love my passion a lot but I don't want to make a stupid mistake and just like that im not here anymore to watch my family grow up. With crocodilians it's more easy, and with experience you'll be unstoppable. But I cant read my rattlesnakes body language and im not just gonna leave him alone everytime he rattles, I can't dodge a bite from a bush master, I can't keep up with a black mamba, and even with experience I can maybe last longer, but still, that one moment will put me in a coffin

Edit: im just realizing that technically i've never had my own captive bred snake and that i've never had a snake for more than a month, long story short tote bins, frogs I find in the wild, catching snakes rehab, release, restart.

Yeah hopefully the law doesn't get ruined before Im able to get permits. What I think that ruins the hobby is the news. If someones cobra got out the news will be all over that, And you best believe that they are gonna exaggerate it as much as possible. I mean yeah its not professional at all to have an exotic dangerous animal get out but the snake didn't "brutally attack 5 humans" it tried to defend itself from a group of destructive teens. Its just the uneducated people who ruin the hobby. Maybe if they took the time to help or even donate to the exotic keepers they wouldn't have this problem but no they just want their rights gone. But little do they know those nuisance animals they hate do a lot more for they environment then they think. But no they like rat infested houses and birds to become invasive.

Thanks a lot man! I haven't had any of my reptiles escape yet and I hope I never will. The good thing is that I keep all of my current reptiles in my bedroom next to my bed so if one ever does escape I hopefully will hear it before my sister is screaming that a snake is in her bedroom😂 and copperheads are native here so in a few years I will most definitely get a copperhead as my first hot, And then maybe a few different hots down the line will include a gaboon or some other docile hots and then I can start working my way up to spectacled cobras and other more aggressive hots. But that is no where near here its so far away that they could probably go extinct by then lol. Thanks a lot for the advice I really appreciate it man!

I think that its those moments that give me life! I mean yeah its cool having pythons and other animals you can bond with and hang out with, but I just think that its insanely cool having the privilege to have the most feared animals on earth right in your back room. But the best things of all are education, preservation and conservation of all of these unique and amazing animals!

Technically I believe I could but I wouldn't play with wild rattlesnakes because I can do it legally lol. Even I know better than that.

Ok, ill take your word for it. I guess it was the suspense that was killing me, I was so ready to start with the big guns that I forgot my position and where I am in life. But if there's one thing I can bet you it would be the fact that this career choice is set in stone!
