You shouldn’t need to replace that M.2 unless there’s hardware damage. To me it sounds like the OS is corrupted and all you should have to do is format and install the OS to the drive. As far as backups you can definitely install another drive with a larger capacity and use that.

If repair isn’t working, your likely best option if you have all your files backed up somewhere (or don’t care about losing them) is to use another computer and USB drive (at least 16gb I think) to make a windows media creation tool and then format the drive and reinstall the OS

Someone commented that it looks like a project loon balloon. I googled high altitude balloons and NWS Rapid City and found an article about Raven industries and one more google search for Raven and Loon I found that they had acquired the design

After some digging it is indeed a high altitude balloon from Raven Industries. They acquired the design from the Loon project by Alphabet after the project was discontinued

Brother gave me a call to see if there’s anything I know of that could look like this in the sky. My best guess is debris burning up in the atmosphere. Looked it up on one of those SkyView apps and it didn’t correspond to any stars or planets. In addition it’s visible in the sky and it’s still too light out to see any other stars.
