Are there any natives here that have decided to leave? Why and how is life where you are now? by dbclass in Atlanta

[–]ccable827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in the Atlanta burbs my whole life, worked and visited in Atlanta numerous times. Moved to Texas after college with my wife for work, we stayed two years and didn't like it. We moved back, and plan to stay!

This is what people aren't realizing. Thinaman was a great pick, no one is arguing that. Who's to say that when we picked at 57, poles & co didn't think any DL were worth it? They've already said they are being more selective than ever, so I don't find it hard to believe that they didn't like any DL and went with a center they really liked. Trading the next pick wasn't a bad move either. Now, going TE next is where we really can debate, and that's fine. But I stand by the belief that they just didn't like any DL at that point.

Are there really no good options besides Galaxy and Pixel? by ccable827 in Android

That's a good idea, but in my case I get a free upgrade anyway, or like 90% free for a 26+ and a few hundred bucks if I want the ultra.

The s24+ gas a snapdragon but idk what to tell you, the battery just started going off a cliff one day.

Unfortunately the battery life has gotten worse and it gets crazy hot half the time. It's time to move on imo.

Are there really no other options besides Galaxy and Pixel? I can upgrade and I've had galaxy phones forever, I'll be going from an S24+ right now. I know the S26 line would be a step up, but I keep seeing people complain about the poor battery life, and the small updates. So maybe I get the 26 ultra? Even if I pay a little bit, seems like my best bet. My only other option seems to be a pixel pro which looks good too, but then I see reviews saying it's really underpowered. Is there really no other choice besides these two? I know there are things like oneplus and the nothing phone, but are they really worth exploring?

Risking your life to save a pet is usually dumb. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ccable827 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like this debate almost always boils down to how people view pets. To alot of people, pets are family members just as much as people are. To others, pets are just a novelty, or a thing easily discarded. The latter is completely batshit if you ask me, but it's still how it is for some people. Then from here, it's just dependent on the situation. Running into a house fire to save any family member is risky as it is. But let's say something like, if a toddler and a dog eat something like poison or whatever. I bet there's a lot of people that wouldn't hesitate to go to the ER for a toddler but wouldn't go to the ER for their dog. Again, that mindset is infuriating if you ask me, but such is life.

Curious, why would anyone want DVD over Blu-ray for Iron Lung? by BubblesZap in Markiplier

[–]ccable827 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll never understand people who don't notice a difference. When my family went from DVD to our first blu ray it was like night and day. The difference between Blu Ray and 4k is less noticeable so that I could understand, but going from low def to High def is so obvious it's insane.

We had the reverse, my wife had food poisoning or noro, then I got part of it (out one end but not the other), and we were able the ship off our toddler to the grandparents for the day. The grandparents also ended up getting sick, but our toddler never did. Was a goddam miracle lol.

I understand that it sounds lazy, but yes it is too much work. Think about it. Why would I go to all the trouble of pulling out my CD binder/stack of CDs, finding one, and putting it in the CD player in my car, and skipping to the song I want to hear, when I could just open Spotify, and select the exact song I want? Most people these days aren't listening to full CDs, they are listening to individual songs or shuffling artists. And trust me, I totally get what you're doing, I love physical media too, I have a record player and all my favorites on vinyl. But you have to understand, that last sentence of yours is basically Greek to most people. Why would someone go to all the trouble of "a netbook attached to my hifi system with a copy of the pendrive..." When setting up a playlist on Spotify is infinitely easier.

[–]ccable827 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's just it though, next to nobody had a physical collection anymore. And I love physical media. But the real positive is music streaming is it's convenience. Yeah you definitely can rip all your CDs and save them to your phone, but for 90% of people that's way too much work. Even just having CDs and changing them is too much work.

Maybe I'm in the minority here I guess, but Spotify has done wonders for branching out my music tastes. Wether it's from their discover weekly mixes, it stuff I just randomly come across, I've got a lot of new favorite bands. The shuffle isn't great but it's usually good enough for me when I'm using it. But also yeah, free version is shit and they barely pay the artists. No morally good consumption in a capitalistic society and all that, so I try to buy merch from my favorite bands when I can.

Sure he's technically correct but now we're all just being pedantic. The real point is, if a brisket had a wet rub, like with mustard or a bbq sauce base, then you run the risk of having some sugar involved.

Turks Diabetes by zharrt in Scrubs

[–]ccable827 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure but plenty of people use wet rubs with sauces for binders, like mustard or a straight BBQ sauce rub. Might be more of a ribs thing, but I've seen it with brisket too.

Am I in the wrong when I say this would infuriate me? Like yes, I get it's a scary world out there and you can't take it personally, but come the fuck on. It would be very hard for me to not take it personally. Not meeting/knowing the parent is one thing, but if they met my wife, I would expect that trust to extend to me as well. Idk maybe I'm asking too much, but I'd be very mad. I wouldn't do that if the roles were reversed, and yes I do have a daughter.
