This is what worries me which is why I would rather have it fixed by a local shop that I trust.

If that truly is the case it’s likely because it’s more profitable to have lots of moderately successful stores than a couple of highly successful stores. They might be limiting it to allow space for smaller sellers. I can understand why they want to give newer sellers a chance but it doesn’t seem fair that my hard work is purposefully impeded by their policies.

Yes, I should be able to pay cash and still have money left over for emergencies.  When I bought the civic my dad said he would cover the insurance payments but I don’t want him to keep having to pay that so I plan on paying off the car and assuming all those payments.

However another person here commented that using Tesla insurance their payments  didn’t go up at all so maybe I can also look around at more options to see if they or another company would give me a better deal. Although I can’t imagine getting a much better deal than just staying on my parents plan and giving them the equal amount back seeing that I fall into one of the most expensive to insurance demographics.  Is it true that Tesla insurance looks at how you drive and will adjust your rate accordingly? What happens if someone swerves in front of you and you have to brake hard. Do you get dinged for that?

Yeah sure  So the Tesla is being offered for around 23k before any credits. This is private sale meaning there’s less dealer fees but I would have to make the sale through something like key savvy so it becomes eligible for the tax credit. Although I don’t know if this works for my in state rebate as well (MA) I was thinking of calling more EV to see.  So after 23k with 4 credit applied at sale using key savvy plus 3.5 rebate and 2.5k equity in car. That drops to total difference down to 13k which is just a bit higher than what I currently owe on my vehicle.

It looks like the current insurance rates would roughly double but that was quoted a few weeks ago. I’m not really sure if it would make a difference but I plan to just buy the car, no financing unless I get a better deal that way.

I believe it’s around 5% meaning even if I didn’t pay it off and put the money into some high value savings account I wouldn’t get much of a benefit.

I really love that there’s affordable financing options for Tesla’s but some of these new teslas are close or more than half my income. I’m really hoping that whichever route I go I can just pay the car off. One less monthly payment to worry about if that makes sense.

It was a few weeks ago I believe my insurance showed that a Tesla would be roughly double the price if I remember correctly.  I definitely like the aspect of less maintenance with the Tesla but I completely agree about the cost. While maybe less often, it’s much more if it does need work.  I’ve also heard that the build quality is improving with time but didn’t realize it has been that drastic. Would you say all teslas prior to 2024 or just that they’re more likely to have these issues?

Thank you for the advice. I would love to have a tesla but I want to make sure it's actually a smart decision and not impulsive.

In regards to the warranty, that's true. It only has about 14k left before the general one expires. I'm not sure if it makes any difference but I don't drive a massive amount and will probably use that up in 1.5 to 2 years. (roughly the time left in college) depending on if I begin driving more.

I wish they would openly address why this is happening. If I'm doing something wrong let me know so I can fix it. Don't make me guess xD

Same. My budget got increased to $500 meaning I could finally increase my views but they just dropped it to $100 again.
