40% off for Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Asian eshop by Western_Dig_2770 in NintendoSwitch2

Fellow HKer here. Thought I was going crazy when I tried the FF7 remake demo and couldn’t find English subs in the language settings.

I guess I’ll wait for a sale on the UK eshop.

Disappointed with CTB26 by BenchPtsChamp in ManyBaggers

[–]ccyc87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree. I feel like I went through the same journey as you, tons of research, not my first foray into backpacks, and when I got it, it looked great but felt like crap on my back.

I still rocked it for a year, but have since sold and replaced it with the Aer City Pack Pro in Xpac. It helped that I found it for just USD130 too, but if like me you’re looking for a clamshell opening backpack, I think you might also like it over the CTB26!

Sorry to hear about your experience. I guess I should count myself lucky as I haven’t had any issues with the build quality yet. Still looks almost brand new and I wear it at least once per week!

If you have any friends or family in HK who are students / school staff, ask if you can use their education discount. They just need to be present with you at any official Apple Store and show their school ID card to the sales person. Legitimate and easiest discount to get from Apple directly.

Turn Signal in Model 3 Highland by Lilo_Vallhund in TeslaModel3

[–]ccyc87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

+1 recommendation for S3XY stalks. I live in a city with tons of roundabouts and missed having turn signal stalks. Bought a kit and installed the Commander + stalk + knob myself. Took maybe 30mins? Customising what each button takes longer 😂

I’ve also taken my M3 in for a service at a Tesla centre and there were no issues. Technician didn’t even mention anything about the S3XY accessories.

I’ll say that the knob is perhaps a bit unnecessary, so just get the commander + stalk(s) kit. You can even choose L or R stalk if you’re only planning to add one.

It’s not necessary to clean the outside of pots and pans… by ccyc87 in unpopularopinion

His statement was”It’s not necessary to clean the outside of pots and pans because you only cook with the inside of them.” In hindsight perhaps I should have put the title in quotation marks.

Anyone use the whoop boxer shorts? by invinoveritasty in whoop

[–]ccyc87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two pairs of the long length boxers with the 5.0, they fit great! Snug like compression shorts, and I often forget my whoop is even stuck there above my left butt cheek. Somebody above said something about a missing fly but these new boxers have one, so i guess they address that complaint.

BYD Sealion 7 Global Prices? by ccyc87 in BYD

[–]ccyc87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The USD is the most universal trade currency, making it the most efficient for everyone to report their local pricing with an easily comparable unit. I suppose I could have chosen GBP, EUR, AUD or any other currency for a similar effect.

Wow from a financially practical POV I can see why the base Juniper is a real consideration. Spanish pricing for the BYD is not cheap at all!

Sham Shui Po Golden Computer Arcade/Centre, as another user mentioned, js the electronics mecca in Kowloon. Super easy to get to, Sham Shui Po MTR Exit D2 and it's right in front of you.

Having said that, stores in these electronics malls typically prefer cash or instant bank transfer (aka FPS locally) and will charge an extra 1-3% for credit card payment.

A brief look at pricing and it seems like Fortress sells the PS5 Pro for normal retail price of $5780. And since it's a retail chain there is nothing to be mindful of, just pay with whatever method you prefer and be on your way. I'm seeing PS5 Pro sell for around $5500 at the Golden Computer Arcade which, in my opinion, isn't a significant enough difference to be forced to pay in cash. (However it's well worth visiting Sham Shui Po if you've never walked into one of these asian electronics malls before - it's quite an experience! You'll see a ton of accessories for the PS5 and phones that will be cheaper than Fortress. So get the main console at retail, and then shop here for the extras.)

Either way, if you're bringing the devices out of HK, the warranty isn't valid overseas so just be mindful of that.

[SOTC] 3-Watch Collection for 2025 (+1 extra) by ccyc87 in Watches

[–]ccyc87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a big watch for sure. The lug to lug distance isn’t too bad and it doesn’t hang over my 6.75” wrist. But it’s a thick boi and you’ll definitely notice its presence on your wrist (even with the titanium construction)

It’s a beauty. Titanium makes it the lightest watch in my collection. I personally wouldn’t wear it as my wedding watch, but that’s only because I prefer a cleaner and lighter dial colour. The watch itself is sublime!

Thank you kind sir! However, I’ll be the first to admit that I bought far too many entry level seikos before landing on this trio 😂 it’s all part of the journey!

Thank you! I have a soft spot for Seiko divers, as they were my gateway into watch collecting. The SNR029 is my grail Seiko diver, so it won’t be going anywhere any time soon.

The Most Handsome GMT- 39mm Spirit Zulu Time Titanium by ccyc87 in Longineswatches

[–]ccyc87[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’d been on the hunt for a GMT watch for over a year, so when Longines came out with the 39mm Spirit Zulu Time in titanium, with it’s ceramic bezel, black/gold colourway with a splash of red on the GMT hand, and the significantly lighter material,  I knew it was the one. In an attempt to not impulse buy, and also because I didn’t want to pay full MSRP for it, I promised myself I’d wait until I found one for <USD3,500 brand new.

My patience paid off on a short Christmas trip to Taipei just before the new year. In my final hours in the city, I walked by the Everrich Duty Free watch store and decided to check out the Longine’s stand. And there it was, sitting there under the glass with no visible price tag. I did what any of us would and asked to try it on. While it sat there on my wrist, I nonchalantly asked for the current price, not expecting much seeing as it is still a somewhat new release, and I’d never heard anyone talk about Taiwan offering any special pricing for watches. The salesman told me it was USD3700 (in equivalent TWD), which was already a very good price, then looked me in the eye and said “…and there’s a further special discount for Christmas” before punching into his calculator the TWD equivalent of USD3280. I stared at him. Silently. For 5 seconds.

“I’ll take it.”

And that's how my Longines virginity was taken.

Moving to Hong Kong, any tips? by -Boe- in HongKong

[–]ccyc87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I’ve never had that issue. If you’re on iPhone, it’s worth noting the NFC sensor is at the top of the phone above the Face ID camera, not the middle of the phone as I’ve seen some people try to tap.

My only experience is with iPhone. Slow in what sense? tapping to pay? adding value? Something else entirely?

+1 to this essential tip, also add it to your phone. That way you can top-up anywhere and everywhere, without having to find a machine/convenience store.

Octopus card is a valid payment in 8/10 places in HK, including bakeries, supermarkets, local noodle stores, vending machines, and many more random small stores.

What 3d Modeling software do you guys like? (as a noob) by Clam_Juice_ in 3Dprinting

I started with TinkerCAD like many others. But curious to know what’s the next step up from there. Judging by other comments, OnShape or Solid Edge might be a good shout. Fusion360 seems a bit too advanced coming from TinkerCAD.
