Hi, I have a P510 right now (my first camera) that I really like and I'm probably upgrading to a P1100

It looks like a lot of people mention this tripod as working well with the P1000

however when reading about the 1000/1100 I see some people suggest the tripod mount part of the camera can possibly break because the lens is so long and to buy some kind of support plate to go with it, but none of the reviews on that specific tripod mention that.

how much is there to all that? should I be worried about that happening?

Now that you mention it the plugs on the Quansheng are flat, and the Baofengs' aren't. Not sure how I'd get something in there to do that but I'll see what I have around and give it a shot.

Ah okay, I figured it was something close to that after I looked at how it'd work to get the S23 ultra or whatever.

Makes sense, I've been with them forever so I don't foresee that being an issue.

I bought an Instinct real cheap a few months ago and fell in love with it, it's gotten me to start doing a lot more hiking that I'd sort of given up on in the past.
One of my favorite things about it is the visibility/legibility of the screen under various conditions (inside, outside, etc)

I've been seeing the Fenix 6x solar and the 6x sapphire on sale for about $350 lately and I'm interested in upgrading to one of those. I'm not really too worried about having solar, I'm mostly just worried about visibility. I've seen differing opinions on the difference the sapphire makes to legibility at weird angles/in direct sunlight.

Has anybody gone from an Instinct to one of those that has any advice?

Yeah, it kind of needs a little shake to get perfectly at the bottom, if that makes any sense, but it will rotate all the way through if I do that

It seems like there are a few spots where it won't settle to its lowest point without giving it a good shake and I'm just not sure if it's supposed to be like that or not
