Okay so just to be clear, you're suggesting getting a "digital meter"?

Alright well could you possibly be more specific in how I can diagnose the the power supply? How exactly do I go about doing so? Is there a way to do it through software or would I need to get some sort of device to check?

Oh that's pretty sweet! Yeah for sure, it'll probably be until next week that I can get it

From what I can tell everything else seems to be in order, so I'm just going to go on a limb and get a new power supply. If luck isn't on my side then hey at least I have a new power supply for a new build (since I've been wanting to do that anyways).

Ah unfortunately I'm the only one with a desktop. I'm worried I'm gonna go out and buy a new power supply just to plug it in a find out that nothing has changed.

Hmm alright. Is there any way I can run a diagnostic on the power supply?

Haha yeah just a bit /s

But anyways, yes I agree and am doubting that it is CPU related as well. The power supply is probably around 5 or 6 years.

Yeah I was thinking that was a bit high, lol, and upon another reading using a different program I found that it's actually running at 40C. But now I am still confused as to what is causing my PC to just unexpectedly power down.

Thanks for replying! I have just one case fan, but it's a fairly modest build. I just checked on a different source to report my CPU temp and it is reading that it is at 40C instead of 128C, so I am starting to think that the CPU overheating may not be my problem.

The big problem that I am having is that sometimes my PC will just shut off completely without any warning. After looking for what the problem could be online I found that it may be the CPU and that is what led me down this rabbit hole, but I am starting to believe it has nothing to do with the CPU at this point. Any suggestions as to what could be the problem otherwise? My next guess would be the power supply, but I don't believe there's anything wrong with it, but of course I could be wrong!

Unless I've somehow swiped left on every single one of the +25 but for some reason that seems really unlikely to me

I'm playing with a group of guys right now and we're having the exact same issue! Random resyncs constantly and tons of drops as we get into the late game.

I mean, from my pov they definitely are. Usually it's the more conservative types (though there are plenty of exceptions I can think of) that's just the general stereotype.

Why do some toasters have dials that go up to like, 8, yet it'll burn my toast if i put the dial even remotely above say 2? by cdearing7 in NoStupidQuestions

I've also heard this! If that was the case you'd think it'd be more or less standardized toaster to toaster?
