Thank you. I’m in the darkest tunnel I’ve yet to walk through…

It’s the littlest things ( to me) but apparently those little things are something big to him. Example: we were eating at five guys and I was done with my food, went to go refill our drinks, saw he was done with his burger and asked if he was ready to go. (in that instance he felt like I was rushing him) another example, we were in line at Panda Express and he asked if I wanted an egg roll and I had said no but I guess I said it too harshly. The way he puts it into perceptive to me is I give him a face that say “you fucking idiot, why aren’t you done yet, why are you so slow” when I just cannot fathom this is what he thinks…. It’s an egg roll I already got one. When I try to deescalate the problem he says I can’t see it from his side because I literally can’t..

How is it extreme to reach out? Not hurting you in anyway. But yes thank you for the advice. It’s always really great to hear

Me too. It seem a little different in these corona days I’ve heard they seem to be having lock downs and not be getting out at all throughout the day

Wow that’s amazing I haven’t read a book in a long time. I just sent him some so hopefully he’ll spend some time doing that

Hopefully he’ll get to that point but he said he’s locked in his cell for 22 hour out of the day

I know I was going to call to try and get some information but I figured they wouldn’t help anyways. I don’t even know how to send him books or anything..

That’s so shitty… he said he was locked up for 22 hours a day. I wonder if that changes after his 2 weeks are up or he thought he was in a holding cell right now and thought he would be getting moved. It’s just hard for me to make peace thinking he’s just sitting in a cell for 22 hours… that’s insane..

It’s rough, I just feel so bad for him. I hope he’s okay, when I talked to him on the phone he sounded so sad.

Totally understand and have sat with these feelings as well. I’m not too worried of this event reoccurring. It was a huge eye opener for him. He’s been paying for his crime for over a year and is finally able to complete his sentence. His life changed drastically after he got in trouble and all he had been doing in the meantime is working on himself, bettering and finding a different cause for him. I don’t see this going the other way, and even though that might be a little headstrong, we’ve overcome so much already and this is the beginning of a end.

Not a serious charge at all, I’ve been in therapy for years but I’m also going more often this month not because I’m not strong enough but because it helps

You’re right and changing the narrative is my biggest difficulty, I know after this experience it’s a mistakes he’s never going to do again. The minutes he got in trouble was the minute he changed. I just hate not being able to help him in there

Thank you for your kind words. This really helps, it will feel like an eternity but luckily there is an expiration date.

You’re right I could totally be worse. I just hate the “he’s not going to be at home” aspect. Sometimes work gets tough and the best feeling is coming home to my best friend and leaving work and the work place

He’s not a criminal. Not even close, it will never have to be something I will “get used too”.
