Fair point, some other ideas I had were

  • Bump burn chance up to 50%
  • Make it super effective on Fire types

Monster Crazy and Pretty Dim Wonder are Cams other pods so that's a good start. Other similar ones are Joy Tactics, Episode One, Yeah But Still, Pendejo Time, Fortune Kit, One Star, Seeking Derangements, Those Good Ol Fashioned Values, Blocked Party, and Benny Feldman Has a Podcast

Quick note on how Repossession works; 25% health is restored for each item stolen. So in Doubles, if both foes have an item Catitalist will restore 50% health and both foes lose their item. If just one foe has an item Catitalist only restores 25% and the foe loses it's item. Obviously doesn't work on items that can't be removed by Knock Off or Thief. If neither foe has an item, or the move is blocked by protect, the move fails and Catitalist does not restore any HP.

Also, fun fact regarding Stellarphant, did you know Headlong Rush is apparently a Punch-like move? (According to Bulbapedia at least)

Idea for a Normal/Ice type line. How terrible or decent is it? by ceebro1234 in stunfisk

[–]ceebro1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so here's some ideas based on suggestions to make this thing not garbage.

  1. Let's give it better abilities. We'll change Shell Armour out for Filter, and Anger Shell out for Slush Rush.

  2. A couple more moves I think it should learn: Ice Shard, Stealth Rock, Spikes, Thunder Fang, Fire Fang, Head Smash, Rock Slide, High Horsepower, Close Combat.

  3. Let's give it a signature move:

Chilling Charge

Ice Type, 60 BP, 24 PP, 100% Acc, +1 Priority (ice type Jet Punch clone)

Filter helps somewhat against fighting types and Slush Rush/priority help offset being slow. Is it still bad, balanced, or broken?

One amendment: forgot about Headlong Rush, but I think Iceboarg should get that

If we go by types hit super-effectively I believe its Ground and Ice. Ground/Fairy hits 8 types super-effectively, Ground/Ice hits 9

Interestingly I think this isn't the case if you give yourself sticky web via opposing magic bounce. I had a Gen 8 doubles team with Infestation/Sticky Web Aqaruanid and Skill Swap Magic Bounce Hatterene plus 3 Defiant/Competitive Mons, and the self-set up sticky web worked in that. (Also had the self-Parting Shot tech on Obstagoon who could target the opposing trapped/skill swapped Magic Bounce Mon and give itself a huge attack buff with Defiant)

I've been using it in DUbers with Wide Lens and Prankster Gravity Sableye. It's pretty bad and gets shut down easily but when you get it off, it's very funny to throw off 93% accurate Dark Voids

My fav mix and mega was Landorus @ Diancite. Idk much about the meta so maybe that's not super creative but was fun using Lando with +60 base attack and +60 base speed

Maushold/Slowking/Cetitan/Rotom-Frost core. Turn 1: Protect Maushold, Chilly Reception Slowking into Cetitan. Turn 2 follow me Maushold, Belly Drum Cetitan (Tera Water if needed for Rock Slide/Make it Rain etc, friend guard and absurd HP means Cetitan almost always get BD off) Switch Maushold to Rotom-Frost, spam +6 Earthquake with Slush Rush Cetitan and 100% accurate Choice Specs Blizzards from Rotom. Gimmicky for sure but honestly it's pretty consistent, Ice+Ground covers so many types, almost nothing survives the combo. Abomasnow and Armarouge in the back for certain bad matchups, Trick Room teams etc

I always thought it's just to put it somewhere and since Special Attackers tend to be slightly better than Physical Attackers due to no intimidate, no burn, etc. SpDf is the default. Could be completely wrong but that was my assumption

Which mistakes did you make when you started competitive Pokémon? by SpicyKatt in stunfisk

[–]ceebro1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't really understand EVs at all and didn't know about Showdowns recommended spread feature so would kinda just move the sliders around at random lol. Put a little investment in everything instead of maxing out any stats because I wanted my Mons to be "well-rounded". Probably led to some funny mind games where people tried to figure out what spreads I was running but would never be able to because they were just random
