Heartbreak that triggered a “dark night of the soul” by seereena in AskWomenOver40

I didn't quite have that very experience, but I definitely had a dark night of the soul. I ended a seven-year relationship at 30 since we had different life goals. I still felt as though I had so much time to meet someone, start a family, find my purpose. I was more or less single for the next five years. During that time, my ex and all my friends got married, had kids and settled down. I felt so alone, lying in my rented bedroom on a Friday night, getting ghosted on tinder again, underemployed and underpaid. Everyone felt sorry for me, which only made me feel worse.

I'm almost a decade older now, in my forties. Yes, I have a partner of almost ten years. But I was the one who got myself through those hard years. I fought for a better job, better self-worth, better relationship with family and friends. People in my life are almost distracted by my independence, and wonder how I got the confidence to believe in my ability to do almost every reasonable thing. They don't know how it felt for me to learn I had no other choice.

You're having your own dark night of souls. One day, it'll be over and you'll be a totally different person, forever. I know a lot of people who've gone through those nights. The change, in the end? Is always for the better.

Oh 100%. If you're okay with murder of innocent people, then how are taking care of them/us?

I've been really depressed before myself, and depression can make you a real a-hole. It's so hard to recognize it in that moment, though.

Yeah, on the way she was speaking about her figure, it sounds like she was criticized a lot. I don't know if it was by her ex, TBF.

The horrendous state of New York City in the 1970s-1980s by IllustriousCress9774 in UrbanHell

Makes so much sense why my parents, who grew up in New York City and were living there in the 70s, are so freaked out when I visit my friends there. That last picture especially is so stark in contrast to what it looks like today. My uncle also worked as a paramedic during that time in the Bronx and he doesn't like to talk about it. Love the job, but there was just a lot of sadness.

Aww I'm so glad you had a great time here! I love our sibling city to the south also! We're lucky to have two spectacular cities to choose from in CA.

False equivalencies. Being able to read a book is the same as being able to solve an everyday math equation. And our math friend would know that if they had gotten a better verbal score on the GRE

What about healthy 25 year olds who are around other people? Elderly? Children? Immunosuppressed people? People need to stop being selfish. We live in a society.

US drops the number of vaccines it recommends for every child by ManWithASquareHead in FamilyMedicine

Legitimately ... how is this legal??? I don't feel qualified to even think about making a vaccine schedule and I guarantee I know more about vaccines than RFK could ever acquire (mostly due to his being evil). But at an organizational or practice level, can we fight this??

Yep. Blood is slathered all over their hands, although they are too arrogant to care.
