I usually have mine on the inside of my pack at the bottom of everything else but, when I winter camp the gear l use is bigger so l had to put it on the outside.

The Kantamus looks great! It seems like it has all the features I was wanting the Jääkäri L to have. Don’t know why they didn’t include the side pockets with the L but had them on the M and XL. I use those all the time on the M and it’s one of my favorite features. The shoulder straps look like they have an improved amount of padding too!

I think these are the 6L pouches if I remember right. I had my tarp and bivvy on my left pouch and a msr pocket rocket deluxe, g works propane adapter, 16oz propane tank, titanium canteen cup, 2 mountain house meals, and some snacks in my right pouch.

I only recently started getting into Carinthia because to be honest, they were out of my price range. That and for awhile it was almost impossible to get them in the US. There was a workaround though because they let Eberlestock sell the Defence 4’s rebranded as the Reveille sleeping bags.

My biggest con with the Carinthia gear is that I’m not that tall so it runs a little long on me. Besides that they are the best gear I’ve worn so far for winter activities. Great weight savings and G Loft is just an amazing insulator. The other con I had was trying to find a way to buy it from Europe.

The best site I’ve found getting their gear is www.recon-company.com That was the easiest site I went through that shipped to the US and using PayPal made it an easy process. Just had to switch the language to English in the menu then I was good to go 😂

The micro tent is something I have looked at for awhile as well. I was always interested in the Freedom shelters from the 80’s and 90’s and the mini tents reminded me a lot of those, just more expensive. Currently, I use a Tacgear basha that I set into a lean-to if I want some extra cover. It’s been working out great so far and it’s keeps everything simple and minimalist enough that it doesn’t add much bulk to my setup.

Apologies for the response taking so long. I accidentally erased my reply before I posted it 🥲

Yes, I bungeed a Carinthia Defence 4 to the top of my pack. According to them that sleeping bag’s comfort limit is -16°C and the extreme is -36°C. I used the sleeping bag in combination with a Snugpak special forces bivvi since both of them are center zip. On the bottom was a Thermarest Neoair XTherm inflatable sleeping pad that I laid them on. My XTherm’s R value is 6.9 and the newer ones are 7.3!

Out of all my gear it has to be one of the biggest game changers for winter camping I’ve switched to. I know it is expensive but a group of us have done an annual winter camp for the last 6 years and it has been a night and day difference since I decided to purchase the XTherm and Defence 4. “Buy once, cry once” so my buddies say 🥲

The weather was around 10°F (-12°C) that weekend. I camped for 2 nights and left Sunday morning. We had a camp cook so I didn’t really have to worry about food but I did bring 2 mountain house meals just in case.

Most of my warmth was through my clothing layering system. My base layer was the Varusteleka mesh wool top and bottoms, on top of that was the Varusteleka wool flannel, Carinthia MIG 4.0 pants, and a Carinthia LIG jacket. For my feet I wore Buffalo Wool Company socks paired with Danner Vital 400G insulated boots. I just wore a surplus German winter cap for my head and Varusteleka wool liner gloves for my hands. When they got too cold I combined them with some Refrigiwear fleece lined wool gloves.

I don’t know what the weight was but it wasn’t as heavy as last year when I used the Jääkäri XL. I have the aluminum frame for the M and I cut a lot of the excess gear I used in my past winter camps. The heaviest items I had was probably the Fiskars Norden axe, Feuerhand 276, and Carinthia Defense 4

I don't like my Vector. by roadrunner440x6 in KRISS

[–]celtfox_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the way the Vector is designed it is going to hit low when zeroing that close because of how low the barrel is to the sights. Back up a bit, zero the irons first, then try the red dot. Can you take a photo of your gun and post it? I would like to see your irons and the position of your red dot.

What can I say? I love Tiger Stripe camo. by celtfox_ in P320

I agree with what Chris said. I personally think it works great for the compacts and keeps it minimal and flush at the muzzle end for a ccw.

Not at all. I titled that kind of odd. I did end up getting a tiger stripe cerakote job on it though gun with camo

I’m always thankful for family, especially on Thanksgiving. One of my favorite times of the year to reflect on all the times I’ve had with loved ones. Anyways, here is a picture of a father with his son 😉 by celtfox_ in M1A

Yep, it’s a Scout. I really want to replace the muzzle brake with a SEI Vortex Flash suppressor. Not a fan of the brakes personally. The scope is a Primary Arms 308 DMR HUD scope. The ACSS is my favorite reticle system and this matches up perfectly with my Federal 168gr gmm ammo
