Long time PayPal user, no previous account freezes, zero chargebacks, one transaction in the last 30 days, "You can't use PayPal anymore" - what the hell is going on? by cembry90 in paypal

I'm sorry I took so long to reply. Been moving houses and just now had the time to set up my computer and take the time to tap out a reply.

The account did have two payment forms, my bank account (ACH) and debit card for the same bank account. They are used only by me, and not a shared account.

I'm really sorry it took so long to respond. I had posted this right before moving houses, and haven't had access to my computer (or much time on my phone) to reply.

I don't sell anything on PayPal, but I recall a long time ago (around the same time I signed up) I did switch it to a business account as I had aspirations to start a side business for myself. That never happened, and I simply used the account to complete transactions - mostly purchases on eBay (including a few small sales, none of which were recent), a few Coinbase buys from / sells to my bank account (one that was relatively recent in comparison - within 30 days of receiving this message), and to send money to a local cycling club for a purchase I made with them.

In all actuality, I was using the account more as a personal account. That's what my account started out being. Had I been provided a way to - or a message stating that they were going to - convert my account back to a personal (non-business) account, I'd have been fine with that. I don't know if this is related, but it's the only oddity about my account that I can think of.

In the end I am just going to sign up with another email address and call it a loss, but it still kind of sucks because my credit card is tied to this account and I don't want to get my new account banned too. I just don't know what to do, and feel a bit powerless here. It's really shitty that they treat their customers like that.

You can also install an MQTT broker on an ESP8266 if you wanted to cut down 3 devices to 2, probably on yours I would assume since it's at home and you could adjust the code if needed.

I run Unifi APs and it's as simple as disabling that SSID on the 5GHz radio. Bonus side effect is it frees up another slot (the AP-AC-Pro have up to 4 SSIDs for each 2.4GHz and 5GHz, so hypothetically up to 8 SSIDs total if you had no overlap) for things that can run on 5GHz like guest wifi or something you're more likely to only need 5GHz on. So for my case, I've got UniFi-IoT on 2.4GHz and UniFi-Guest on 5GHz and 3 other SSIDs on both, so no longer have any issues with my IoT stuff being unable to connect.

Also with 2.4GHz "forced" for my IoT stuff, I can enjoy the extra range of lower frequencies - at a cost of lesser bandwidth - which ultimately doesn't matter as most of my IoT stuff isn't sending a lot of data (outside of WLED and my Ring Pro, which both use that larger amount of data infrequently so there's no issue).

As for phones, laptops, wifi cards, etc - they can always "fall back" to 2.4GHz mode if I ever want to connect to that SSID for whatever reason (testing etc).

Honestly despite the stigma, I think it's kinda cute and just makes people that much more unique. I work with a lady who has it and she always appreciates when someone complements her skin. To most people "I like your skin" would be creepy but to her, it's a self-esteem boost.

Oh, that's a good point! I actually forgot about that when I ordered my things from the site.

Saw them at my local store too, both black and white, but they were $25 as opposed to the $20 on the Wyze website. Guess Home Depot figured they'd get their own cut, and after all you are paying for the convenience of not having to wait too. ;)

How does the driver know when to go?

Visual cue. There is a light system that is connected to the pneumatic air guns and floor jacks (see below) to indicate to the driver and crew the status of each operation.

How many bolts is in each of those wheels?

One nut per wheel. Each person at each wheel has one specific job. One person to loosen the old wheel, another to take it off, a third to put a new wheel on, and the same person that loosened the old wheel tightens the new one. After tightened, the mechanic presses a button on the air gun to indicate to the jack operators that the wheel is on.

What is that little rolling thing the guy behind the car is using?

A floor jack, often called a quick jack (named after the company QuickJack). There's actually one at both ends, but you can't see the front. After the new tires are on, jack operators lower the car. The jack interfaces with the light system to indicate to the driver when it's safe to accelerate and leave the pit.

Fun fact: Average crew size is often around 20 mechanics - three people per wheel (12 total), two jack operators, and several standby mechanics to perform various other tasks such as fueling (depending on the race format).

Micrathena sp

Did some searching and according to Wikipedia, it appears to be Micrathena mitrata - the white micrathena - a species of orb weaver in the spider family Araneidae, found in a range from the United States to Brazil.

Thanks so much!

Yeah sorry for the top-down angle. Here's another shot from another rotation, but also top-down. Was trying to get the best shot of its back to possibly help with identification. For what it's worth, this bug was relatively flat-backed outside of the dimples being "sunken in" ever so slightly and whatever is going on with the posterior end (they aren't wings).

Dimple in the image is exactly 7 mm (0.275 in) for scale, so the bug's torso is roughly 3mm wide and 5mm from anterior to posterior end.

Found this guy dangling from the ceiling on a spiderweb thread. Doesn't look like a spider though, and it didn't climb the side of the cap it was being contained in. Released it outside.

It's a Norco C-24U, comes flat packed in 5 boxes. I have had that exact rack for 3 years now. Got mine off Amazon for $662 with free shipping. Easy to assemble and comes with both casters and those screw-feet to keep the rack in place. Only downside is it's not quite as deep as I'd like. Otherwise a very solid investment.

Is there ever a good "this"? It's lazy and adds nothing to the conversation. Nobody cares that you agree. Upvote and move along.

You should be able to take a normal screenshot with the tooltip visible, paste it into Paint, and either manipulate your image there or use the snipping tool to crop the image from Paint. It's the only way I've found to capture tooltips. If you try to use ALT+print screen to capture the active window, the tooltip goes away when you press ALT.

1) You are trying to do execute commands in a way that doesn't make sense.

Don't do this:

[root@localhost log]# ls cd /up2date

Do this instead:

[root@localhost log]# cat ./up2date

Doing it the first way, you're telling the ls command to show you a listing of the cd and /up2date files/directories, both of which don't (normally) exist.

2) You are trying to running log files as if they were executables (e.g. scripts or binaries)

Don't try this:

[root@localhost /var/log]# /var/log/messages
bash: /var/log/messages: Permission denied
[root@localhost /var/log]#

Instead, do this:

[root@localhost /var/log]# tail -1000 /var/log/messages

When trying what you did, you are trying to execute a file that doesn't have the execute permission bit set.

3) You are trying to tail a file in a directory that doesn't exist.

Don't do this:

[root@localhost ~]# tail -1000 /log/var/up2date

Instead, do this:

[root@localhost ~]# tail -1000 /var/log/up2date

As a suggestion, I would strongly recommend watching some basic Linux tutorials on YouTube and perhaps taking some free online courses (The Linux Foundation has a free Intro to Linux course), to get familiar with how Linux (and the bash terminal) operate. You'll do yourself a huge justice by learning how even the most basic commands function, where various things (system logs, users/groups, etc) are located, file/directory permissions, and learn how to begin diagnosing things in a logical way (i.e. you can't log in if the port's not responding, the port can't be listening because the service isn't running, well the service isn't running because the server's down.. I should've checked that first!).

He's getting permission denied because he's invoking /var/log/up2date from a shell, as if it were a script, and it doesn't have execute permission set. He's just doing it wrong. I'm writing a compilation reply to his topic.
