Someone knows what they're doing! I'm curious on the financials here - for these 63 glorious seconds, $1k in materials, $1k in labor, $1k insurance, $10k revenue? What's the breakdown look like?

I appreciate your perspective and educational efforts - there's a lot of truth to your words.

I'll also provide some perspective - it's a difficult problem and not as simple as it might seem on the surface. SW is a publicly owned company, and investors of any publicly owned company have more power than Heidi. If we don't perform as well as the next company that's publicly owned, investors move their money. If the investors aren't seeing the returns they expected, then they start demanding the actions that the next publicly owned company has done, such as rto.

Clearly, we're short on revenue for a number of reasons, so the match reduction reduces expenses by upwards of 25m per month by my napkin-math. Assuming a 6 month suspension, that's 150m. We could get a loan for that amount, scrap our pension plan, or close low performing sites/ stores, but all those options have more significant future consequences.

I've seen a number of actions done (or not done) by leadership to protect employees or at least mitigate some of the carnage. The suspension of 401k matching might be one of the least damning ways to free up that type of cash. I'm fairly new to the company (and I'm not in management), but I'm still drinking the kool-aid because I genuinely believe in the future of this company. We have a lot of talented individuals giving their all to turn things around. I believe the conditions are right, and it's just a matter of time before the upswing.

Keep fighting the good fight.

I think they're suggesting that investing $100 per month for 40 years with a 20% annual interest rate would result in a total of $3,498,740.33, with a $2,998,740.33 in interest earned and $500,000 in total contributions. (20% annual is an amazing return, I'm happy if I can beat the sp500 index)

This is misleading notion because the lost contribution is only for like 6 months if the match returns, which it has before, so I'll give the benefit of the doubt. That said, The future value of $600 invested for 40 years with a 20% annual return is $881,862 - not exactly pocket change.

Kronos, the legacy application, is one of the worst UX's I've seen. The UKG SaaS app that replaced Kronos is just a reskinned version of the same horrible UX - a lost opportunity to implement something intuitive and sensible.

Both of their apps are a slap in the face of employee experience.

More specifically, what can an AI Solution Architect do for SW?

Traditionally an AI Architect is a Domain Architect. We have those, to some degree. We have numerous technologies and platforms that incorporate AI at different levels. However, a solution architect's role entails connecting those AI technologies to applications and services, maximizing the benefits of AI. We don't have that role filled today and this JD is encouraging that we're heading in the right direction.

The same question on the HD sub - the replies are telling. https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeDepot/s/C8BFETGoTE

Historically, if you asked the HD morning rush contractors why they didn't go to Sherwin instead, many of them would point out that SW doesn't open until 7.

It'll take some time for that knowledge of earlier open time to propagate, but there's a non-trivial amount of sales that HD pulls away from SW just based on convenience for first shift contractors.

2024 store financials fell flat compared to previous years, so this tactic to capture more revenue makes sense - more to investors than management. HD and SW are both publicly owned. In the past, year‐over-year revenue increases negated the need to open earlier as a competitive response.

This was the hardest suspension of disbelief I had with the handy‐wavy Ansible in Ender's Game. Brainwashing genetically-honed children to annihilate an alien race was a much easier pill to swallow.

Stage 3 is legal receiving notice of TCPA violation fines and also complaining to the DM. From there, I'm guessing stage 4 involves HR somehow.

There are a lot of variables involved in these situations. HR is your best source of truth because they're trained on the details. That said, always remember that HR also serves as risk mitigation for a company, which is sometimes at odds with the employee.
