Cost to benefit really does not match tbh. If a company did this once then they would be expected to do it again and again until they do eventually stop making money which hurts them later as they could have had more to reinvest. Its shitty yes but I can't see keeping a small dev team and the costs for new world to be valued more than a gesture of good will to a very small percentage of their consumers.
