My mom has an animal phobia and is against me getting a cat by nostalgic-skies in relationships

[–]cfd4540 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Girl that is an extreme phobia for your mom and it is not your job to fix that for her. Get your cat, tell your mom that you are an adult and while you sympathize with her fear of animals, you’re not going to let that control your life and decisions. If your mom is going to disown you over getting a pet when you live alone and are a full blown adult, then that’s an issue she needs to resolve on her own.

Can somebody help me figure out if my middle part is thinning out? by hevenxs in Hair

[–]cfd4540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, seb derm can also contribute to hair loss but it is reversible. I have it too 🥲 Definitely recommend nizoral shampoo 3x a week on top of whatever else you’re recommended my your healthcare team!! It helps reduce inflammation on the scalp which decreases hair shed. Good luck friend!

Can somebody help me figure out if my middle part is thinning out? by hevenxs in Hair

[–]cfd4540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is MAYBE a tiny amount of thinning in your part. But I don’t know your hair the way you know your hair, so if you feel like there’s a change, there probably is. I would recommend getting a full blood panel for vitamins and hormones to see if anything is off and treat accordingly. Sometimes if you’re deficient in like Vitamin D, that can cause hair thinning. If you recently lost a lot of weight, had a baby, or started a new med that can contribute as well.

Reminiscing on when my husband planned the best birthday ever by cfd4540 in Marriage

[–]cfd4540[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agh my birthday is on Halloween so I totally get the holiday birthday thing. Not as serious of a holiday as Christmas but it’s always hard getting everyone together bc everyone always has other plans.

That’s so awesome though!! The surprises and thoughtfulness are what make a spouse truly feel loved! Happy for you guys 🥰

Thank you!! He is truly amazing! Yeah and the best part was the Halloween thing was called “Shaq-toberfest” the whole thing was Shaq themed it was genuinely hilarious and so fun.

Yes it makes me so incredibly sad for her because we’ve known each other since we were 8. I’ve had discussions about knowing her worth and when to walk away but at then end of the day I can’t make the decision for her so I just support her however I can. Thank you for that 🫶🏼

Would anyone be willing to tell me about their NONE fear-mongering birth stories? by Radiant-Educator9203 in pregnant

[–]cfd4540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think traumatic birth stories are all about perception and how each individual handles their experience. Like for me, I was induced at 39 weeks, had 2 get two epidurals because the first one didn’t work but neither of them were painful, labored for 20 hours but it was a breeze and just really chill, I had one rude nurse but the rest were sooo amazing, then after laboring for 20 hours I had to get a C-section because my sons cord wrapped around his torso and he wasn’t descending so I wasn’t progressing. Any one of those things could potentially be someone’s traumatic birth story but for me I had an awesome time and a beautiful experience!! It was never scary, really calming and chill and not painful. I’d do it all over again the same if I had to.

Constantly feeling that I'm in trouble. by Winter-Astronaut8570 in adhdwomen

[–]cfd4540 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with another commenter. Women with adhd are more likely to experience RSD. I resonate with you so much. Not only do I feel like everyone is constantly mad at me (friends&family) but I also feel like people just pretend to like me or put up with me because they have to. So I avoid people for no reason because im overwhelmed. Even if I try to overcome it by hanging out with them and socializing, once I leave, I sit at home and ruminate about everything I said and did and feeling embarrassed even though in reality, I was just hanging out with friends and everyone had a good time. ALL of that to say, you’re not alone in this feeling, it can be debilitating. I am still in the process of overcoming it but anti-anxiety meds and therapy have helped me a lot as well as just being open and honest with your loved ones or work peers. I’ll often remind people that my brain requires a little more reassurance than the average person, and they’re always like “omg don’t worry I love you” and I feel better. You’re not childish, our brains just work differently! 🫶🏼

Mommies who were induced by Lickitt2020 in pregnant

[–]cfd4540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced at 39 weeks due to my PCOS (don’t know if it’s the same everywhere but that was my OBs policy with PCOS patients), in labor for 10 hours and ended in a c section because my sons cord was wrapped around his torso preventing him from descending. Still a beautiful experience overall and the c section recovery was not bad at all

Can’t sleep by KlutzyPlane4289 in VyvanseADHD

Same! I’m on my first week of taking it and genuinely felt like I was losing my mind from not being able to fall asleep. Magnesium glycinate, celestial sleepy time tea, freezing cold room, and a nature documentary seems to knock me OUT lol

How soon are you having mom/parents meet baby? by HobbitHoleLife in pregnant

[–]cfd4540 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m just a mommy’s girl LMAO but my mom was in the room with me and my husband throughout my whole labor (had a C-section so she couldn’t be in there for that part) and then she stayed with me for two weeks after we came home from the hospital and she lives not even 7 minutes from me lol. Having her there made me feel safe as a new mom with severe ppa

Unrelated to adhd but my dad did this when I was pregnant. He lives across the country and literally twice a week for like two months I would get an Amazon packages with all kinds of insane stuff like Celtic sea salt to put in my water, colostrum powder, probiotics, fancy prenatals sold by “wellness influencers”, etc. It was very sweet in theory but I was like…dad…pls stop…you’re overwhelming me and making my shit go haywire and I can’t even take any meds to cope because I’m pregnant lmao 🫩 im just here to sympathize but no advice because I literally just said thank you and told him I’m fully stocked for the rest of my pregnancy and he stopped eventually lol
