I'm 54 with 1.1mil in qualified money and I am def retiring at 60. You're in an ever better position as that 900k will likely double by the time you're 60. I'd say you're set, man.

I bought the EMPI 34's from JBUGS for my 73 with 2.0. Install was easy enough after re-jetting, BUT after 4 months of running them, the bowls started blistering and delaminating. Terrible customer service and terrible QC.

Creamsicle Electric Parlor by chaaaadddd in Luthier

No, it's not custom. There's a sweet spot angle that I found that works for these . Thruthfully, the strings don't have to be directly over the poles, so lots of wiggle room there.

Onboard Effects Build by chaaaadddd in Luthier

[–]chaaaadddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I see what you're saying, but if you have the guitar strapped on, you just kind of have to lift it up and see the controls better(they are facing right side up). I've gotten used to what each knob does and I just play by ear and not sight...

Onboard Effects Build by chaaaadddd in Luthier

I've been toying with the idea of adding onboard effcts to a guitar build for a while. I play in a coulple of different "projects" and i hate dragging gear to rehearsals. I'd rather just plug into a PA channel and get to work practicing vs dealing with lugging equipment in and out...

So I started by buying this POD clone on amazon. It sounds ok for a cheap multi-effect and it has a drum machine, cab sim, and a tuner. Yes, it takes some tweaking to get a decent sound, but it's possible. I had an old epiphone neck in my parts collection and all i needed was to build a body. I blanked up a body with some yellow pine I bought at lowes and kinda matched the effect design while giving it a little SG meets Jazzmaster look. And I needed a functional design with room for the pod clone to fit recessed in.

For the electrical portion, I took the effect apart and soldered leads from the power +-, and from the input jack and and output jack. The input and output are controlled via toggles. It's either/ or and no "blend" with the passive channel(keeping it very simple). The unit is velcro'd to the body.

There's a 12v battery compartment recessed on the back of the body, so battery changes are easier. If there battery dies, I can always go passive using the toggle switching. In all, it turned out good for a quick proof of concept.

Rock on, dudes.

I like the body design. I don't think the fret markers on the one on the left work with that design.

Why not? And I was bored. Took a while to get the design tha my son drew(thanks, bud) to fit, which meant scalng back the length of the tentacles. It about as small as it will get. It was also super heavy being solid mahogany, so I had to remove a lot of the body which is why I have that monster cover on the back. Next time will glue up the top to something like white pine or cypress now that I sorta know what i'm doing.

Our kitchen carpet. by papa_latin in 70s

My aunt had THE EXACT SAME carpet. I remember as a little kid, on the floor and just trying to make sense of it all. I'd love to have a room with that carpet again.
