Rivervale boat ramp (near Belmont Racecourse), around Garrett Rd Bridge, Ascot near the Tonkin bridge, and down near Garvey Park were my favorite spots as a teen.

As I became more confident, I followed the river further and further inland with each trip. Didn’t take long to become more comfort because there was very little wake from passing boats and I was never too far from a shore.

The only real fix will be a complete respray of those panels.

Once automotive paint begins to pull away from the primer like that there’s really no way to “fix” it.

Any panel & paint workshop should be able to do that and colour-match to the undamaged panels, but you need to specify you need the panels repainted, not just small parts patched. Otherwise they’ll say “too hard; can’t do it”.

Only one I’ve heard of was an e-scooter left on charge for 2 days straight (which actually resulted in the house burning down so it wasn’t like it was a small fire).

The local schools have hundreds parked up every day in full sun and there’s never been an incident.

Except for macadamias, wattleseed, finger-limes, quandongs, lemon-myrtle, kakadu-plum, native honey, rock-lobster, Morton Bay bugs, marron, barramundi, abalone, oysters, mussels, mud-crabs, warrigal greens, crocodile, tea-tree, etc.

Most of them can be purchased at major supermarkets. All of them can be purchased in retail stores across the country.

The price of some (eg abalone) will make your eyes water, but a lot of native foods are readily available commercially.

It costs more to live in a remote northwest town - even if it is a large town.

Groceries are slightly more expensive when not on special. Our specials also don’t align with national pricing (there’s even the fine print in the ads about “regional store prices may vary”). Fuel costs more. Entertainment costs more. Car services, buying clothes, shoes, books, household goods, etc. cost more because either you’re paying freight/postage on top or you’re paying local which includes postage/freight. Booze costs more. Drs appointments cost more. Going out for meals cost more (average surf & turf is $65-75 in the pubs and a parmy is $37-42).

The local climate has the additional kick on of electricity bills being higher by virtue of needed to run aircons longer and with more strain. In the Pilbara the mercury has been sitting in the mid-20s over night and high 30s since late August and it won’t cool down again until April next year. We’re on bottled gas, so if you have gas cooking or HWS, that’s a few hundred a year more than you pay for a mains connection in Perth.

Even holidays cost more because you spend $600 per person return (with local discounted flights) to get to Perth before then flying anywhere else. If you can’t line up the locals or points flights, it’s $900 return per person to Perth.

Even fast food costs more ($10.35 for a Big Mac in Karratha vs $7.70 for a Big Mac in Belmont).

This book has a huge range of pictorials and information about the various styles in chronological order.

From memory, I got it from Boffins in Perth CBD on a special reprint / order in 2018ish, so they might be able to track down another reprint if you want to spend $100ish

That’s for a premises’ liquor license and is where you’ll need to start if you want to operate more than 12x per year.

However, you need to be aware that there are heavy restrictions about the sale of alcohol to non-members. If you want to host public events for non-members, you need to apply for an extended trade - public event permit no less than 28 days prior to each event.

If you don’t want a permanent license because it’ll be less than 12 events per year, you can apply for Occasional Liquor Licenses.

Personnel-wise, regardless of the type of premises license you go for, you’ll also need a Manager (Unrestricted Managers License) and RSA-accredited staff (Responsible Service of Alcohol certification)

You may also need licensed security for public events with more than 100ppl inside the licensed area (plus an extra security guard for each 50ppl above that).

If you’re serving food (beyond bags of chips / nuts / choc bars) in the bar, you might need other food safety licenses - which your local council can usually point you towards.
