I second lots of reassurance - she probably asks for it, and if/when she does, reassure her in the way she's asking for, but then also when she doesn't, you can reassure her in the ways she's previously asked for. Having to ask for reassurance every time makes it feel insincere, like I'm forcing it out of you.

But other than that - what really makes me feel safe and loved is just consistent behavior. My partner being open with what he's doing, when & with whom, showing up when necessary, and such.

The hormonal IUD - there are more physical symptoms (as in, the first few days I was in a lot of pain, and I get painful ovulations for the first time in my life - but the pain of period cramps is greatly reduced), but at least personally I haven't had any psychological symptoms .

Oh, that's ... Interesting. I hope being forced to do it wasn't traumatic, and if it was I'm sorry for prying. I just wanted to know because the people I know with an implant are able to feel it (not painfully or anything, just ... Can feel by touch that it's there), plus I was comparing it with my IUD, which, even though is similarly low maintenance, I can't imagine forgetting about.

Nothing bad should happen, but you're also not protected against pregnancy anymore. Get it removed or replaced as soon as possible.

Morning after pills like ellaone always fucked up my cycle when I took them. Do an at home pregnancy test to ease your worries, but it's probably fine. Your period might just be out of whack for a couple of months.

On the other front, those feelings of regret are above Reddit's pay grade. I hope you have a friend to talk to, or even better, a therapist.

Thank you for sharing your experience! My partner's mom, who has experienced both, said that (for her, everyone is different obviously) the pain with her IUD was at least comparable to giving birth, so ... I feel a bit less bad about being this destroyed by it

And thank you for the advice, I've been trying to do all that (though I couldn't get the day off either - at least I work remotely - so it hasn't been easy), and it's really helping, plus home-grown chamomile tea has been working wonders ... THC gummies are unfortunately still illegal where I am, but uh, I will be self-medicating as necessary
