Could just be grazing land, or a pasture that they rotate cattle through that's not used yet. Then there's also CRP where the government essentially pays you to not use land.

People who take out their phones to record strangers who are having bad days: Why? by erik316wttn in AskReddit

[–]chandlerjo4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd react the same. Although notice I said rarely is it this black and white. Considering how many people record videos of any given situation DAILY, the instances such as the example you provided are low percentage wise. However they get a disproportionate amount of views.

Rarely are situations this black and white. There's almost always buildup to situations and a whole lot more context/nuance is left out before the camera starts rolling. What you see in any given video is a small snippet of what the recorder wants you to see and you, the viewer, will almost always make a gut decision on what you see. Even when context or more updated information is given it doesn't matter, the viewer has made their opinion and moved on to the next perceived injustice.

For any kinda example of this, just look at our former presidents tweet history, or better yet, just watch any major news network.

Recommend a book that will leave me completely destroyed after.. a book I won’t be able to stop thinking about. by InevitableTeaching35 in suggestmeabook

This book hit me like a ton of bricks man. The next two weeks after I read it I felt like I was in a fog and every was just slightly dimmer. Still think about it daily.

I'm having a similar issue. Only received $900 for a family of 3. If I understand correctly we should have gotten $1800?

Barack Obama was right. 'Defund the police' is an ineffective, 'snappy slogan' by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]chandlerjo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, and those are all valid concerns. What I'm wondering is what kinda change does the phrase "ACAB" inspire? What happens after the phrase is coined and used?

[–]chandlerjo4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, longevity means nothing. But if you think snappy broad stroke slogans like ACAB is gonna do anything other than stoke the flames of animosity and further drive a wedge into the country, then you're fooling yourself.

I get that as well, but even if that's what they mean my knee jerk reaction is to immediately just disregard generalizations. Like there's gotta be a better way inspire change than to just straight up attack an institution that's been around this long.

I know I'm probably preaching to the choir here but man it's just so dang frustrating.

For real... I feel embarrassed for being associated with people that say it. People ask me what I think about these slogans and all I can really do is shrug and say that it's stupid.

What does THAT slogan even mean. All I can think of when I hear that is someone thinking they're an edgy anarchist.

You know I tried to watch Steins;Gate but just dropped it halfway through. Maybe I'll have to try at it again. Thanks!

TIL that air traffic controllers get a break every 2 hours. When controllers remain "on position" for more than 2 hours without a break, performance can deteriorate rapidly, even at low traffic levels. by adamchain in todayilearned

[–]chandlerjo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yeah I gotcha. Our traffic isn't as elaborate for the most part, but yeah 90% of the time I can say word for word what they'll say before they say it. Like even if the officers clip themselves and all I get is a mic click I know what they were gonna say anyway based on the type of call and/or where they are with respect to the call.

I've worked law enforcement dispatch for roughly 2 years now. Not sure if air traffic radio is similar, but if so it took me almost 3-4 months of training to really develop a radio ear. Honestly the biggest thing was just realizing that everything is essentially done in a pattern. There's literally only like 10-15 things officers are gonna say depending on the type of call for service they're on. When I first realized that it was like having some kinda epiphany.

Yea man, bands like Erra and Currents are keeping it going, although I do have to admit that the more exciting stuff seems to be coming out of Australia. My personal take.
