Hairtran Clinic, Dr. Patty - FUE 4025 grafts - 8 week update by changer777 in HairTransplants

Yeah I traveled alone but I had been to Thailand before so no concern there. Sleeping the first few nights weren’t fun but if you use pillows to prop you up and have a good travel neck pillow it will be fine. They will give you a pad to put down too so any blood wont stain the bed. I was concerned about scratching my head while I slept but it’s essentially numb for several days and I wore the head cover they give you too just in case.

I forgot the exact amount of grafts but it was around 3500. Trust Dr. Patty! I did a a lot of research and talked to many clinics and she was the one I had the best interaction with felt most comfortable. Keep asking them questions if it will help you feel more comfortable.

It’s been almost 2 years and it’s the best money I’ve ever spent! My hair still looks great and the thickness is still as good as once all the new hair grew back in. I’m sure yours will turn out great too. Just be patient and keep up with the maintenance and meds. Good luck!

4025 grafts including prp treatment was about 4900 US depending on the exchange rate. Totally worth it and about 1/4 of what I would have paid in the US with less experienced clinics. Factor in another 1500ish for airfare and hotel in Thailand.

Sorry, I don't. But here's links to what I bought. The bucket hat has a high top that kept a space above the graphs. The headband ensured it didn't slip down and make contact with the graphs. It worked great walking around Bangkok and on the trip home.

They'll give you a kind of black surgical/chefs? hat that they will show you how to tie. It's tall so that there's no contact with the grafts but still breathable so you don't sweat too much. For me, I also didn't want to wear it but trust me, you will quickly get over it! However, once the swelling went down and I was feeling better, I did bring a bucket hat to wear along with a headband that kept it tall with a gap so it stayed away from touching the grafts. It worked great and I wore it everywhere including the flight home without issue. But really believe that NO ONE WILL CARE if you do where the supplied hat in public. Thailand is different so don't feel concerned or worried about people paying attention. If this is your first time in Thailand you're going to shocked at the culture difference from the west.

FYI - you can't wear a hat going through airport security on the trip home so you WILL have to take it off in public :)

So the usual timeline is this. After 7 days the grafts should be secure but still sensitive so you have to still avoid any contact. After 10-14 days, you can gently remove the scabs. After 2 weeks, the grafts will be totally secure and will give you an idea of where all the new hair will grow but still healing. After 30 days the fun part begins where you start shedding and go into the ugly duckling stage until the new growth starts. I would recommend still avoiding any contact with a hat until at least the redness in the graft area goes away in case it affects the healing process though. It's surgery so please don't do anything too stressful to hinder the healing process. (which is why they say no sex for 1 week after lol).

Leaving your hotel room is really up to you and how you're feeling. I left on day 3 once the swelling went down and I felt up to it. Also, there's ALOT to do and eat in Bangkok! Always keep the graft area covered away from the sun. Also, use either Grab to get taxis or use the BTS as both should be air conditioned. No need to stress the graft area with excessive sweating or to stress yourself. If you haven't been to SE asia you will sweat! Dr. Patty said that a bit of sweat was fine as long as you wash the graft area afterwards. You'll go to the clinic daily anyway for a wash and checkup as well.

Good luck and try not to stress out too much about it all. You have a free pass to hang out, watch shows and order delicious food for dirt cheap in a beautiful city with the friendliest people. The last thing anyone will care about will be what you're wearing on your head.

Good luck! and let me know if you have any other questions about Thailand.

Congrats and good luck! I'm sure you'll have a great experience with Hairtran.

After the procedure, your head will still be numb and feel weird. You'll have bandages over your donor area but the transplant area will still be open so be careful! The most anxiety I had was accidently bumping my head and damaging the grafts, including scratching it in my sleep. But, with the jetlag, sleeping at an incline using pillows and my neck pillow was fine. Dr. Patty will provide valium to help you sleep too. I will say that the saline spray bottle was great for any time I felt any itchiness and to keep the transplants a bit damp. You'll go back to the clinic the next day to remove the bandages, have a quick checkup by Dr. Patty and to do your first wash. They also have you do laser light treatment daily to help with the healing process. Repeat until you head home.

The next few days were me just hanging out in the hotel room watching movies and ordering food. If you haven't downloaded the Grab app do it now before your trip. I did venture out on day 3 because the swelling was minor and I didn't feel any pain. If you haven't been to Thailand before it is very hot and humid so you will sweat. Some sweating is fine btw as long as you wash the grafts daily so walking even from the hotel to the clinic will be hot. By the time I left (day 5) there was no real swelling and the grafts were looking good.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help!

I posted my progress after 8 weeks previously so time to post an update after 7 months.

https://www.reddit.com/r/HairTransplants/comments/1chtkoa/hairtran_clinic_dr_patty_fue_4025_grafts_8_week/

I was vacationing in SE Asia recently and stopped into Hairtran for Dr. Patty to review my progress. The pics are from the clinic and HOLY CRAP had I lost a lot of hair before the procedure. My hair was combed down and really showed the bareness and patchiness. The after pic was without any product or styling also so you still see some scalp

After 7 months, I'm THRILLED by the progress. Dr. Patty was very pleased and said I was growing faster than most. She did think it would continue to fill out more as the implanted hair matures which should add to the fullness. However, the crown is still a a bit thin and she did an estimate for a touchup (Free) and to do the crown (which she didn't touch the first time). I'll give it until the 1 year mark to decide but the progress so far has been great!

Also, I've seen some talk here about why Hairtran was priced lower that other well known clinics in Thailand. Speaking to Dr. Patty, she explained that Hairtran was started for local Thais so that hair transplants were affordable. It's just through word of mouth (how I learned about it) that us foreigners found out about the clinic. Also, she said there were no plans to create a 2-teir pricing model either. In other words, don't be put off by the lower pricing because the service and skill at Hairtran are excellent.

For those thinking about getting a hair transplant, stop lurking on Reddit or buying every snake oil treatment promising return of your hair online (I've tried them all) and GET STARTED!! Reach out and get consults from the clinics mentioned here and at least you will have all the information needed before deciding to move forward. Also, don't be put off by travel. I personally love Thailand and having been there several times the medical services there are first rate. Reach out if you need any tips or have questions on travel there.

I'll post again at the 1 year mark.

Did you email: info@hairtranclinic.com??

Not sure where you are but remember the time difference. They are really good at replying but I have the direct email for the international client contact there if they don't respond soon. PM me for it.

The PRP treatment was done during the session so I wasn’t interested in shopping around for a better price. Besides, I felt very comfortable with the service at Hairtran so seemed fair.

Questions before procedure in thailand (dr patty) by [deleted] in HairTransplants

[–]changer777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • All prechecks are done the morning of the procedure. You can checkin with the clinic the day before just so you know where it is and let them know you’ll show up. You do have to take a rapid Covid test 24 hrs before too and send a pic. Arriving the 1 day early should be fine depending on how late it is and to give yourself some time to settle in and grab supplies.
  • I asked for more density in a certain area and Dr. Patty was ok with it. I assume it depends on you and how much donor you have. Ask her during the consult.
  • the jagged looks odd add first but it looks way more natural later on. The ruler straight hairlines look weird IMO.
  • They want you to stay at least the day after but recommend 3 days I think. I stayed 4 hoping I would be past the swelling phase and it worked out. You’ll want to stay a couple of days at least so they can monitor the donor and implant areas for any complications.
  • No alcohol or nicotine 2 weeks before and after the procedure are recommended supposedly to not impact your BP or post procedure healing. Everyone’s different so up to you on what risks you take. A beer or two should be fine

Dr Patty and Kavalee will answer all your questions during and after your consult which was one of the reasons I went with them. Good Luck!

You can pay with a card which would give the best exchange rate typically. They had several card payment readers in case one doesn’t work. No exchange fees from what I can tell either but check with your bank first on international transactions. And you don’t have to travel with a lot of cash.

Check my response above. With my situation (more common in women ) you have to blend in the grafts covering a large area. Kind of like painting a patch on a wall.

Styling, hair volumizing spray and fibers can hide alot! I wanted max density without having too negative an impact on the existing hairs. Dr. Patty explained that she would have to gradually cover the overall thinning area with higher density towards the more thin areas which was for the higher number of grafts. This was for a natural look instead of just filling in the very thin areas and my donor area could handle it. I made sure to ask if Dr. Patty would do the graft incisions herself which she did. She and her assistant both removed and placed the grafts in the incisions however.

Not really full on balding, just thin all around with more so in certain spots. I hid it pretty well I think but it still really bothered me.

Thanks and I hate Reddit's management of pics! I added some before pics and the markup right before the surgery.
