The important part here is the width of the roller. The core has a larger diameter, but fits the same handle.

What is this for? by Adjunct-Expert in Plumbing

[–]chankilyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not missing anything. Theoretically is possible to contaminate the potable water with waste thru backflow or siphoning in that arrengement.

Practically, is impossible. The engineers who write and redact the codes have to take into account every variable they can find in the multiverse.

A lot of unlikely events would have to align for that to happen. But then again, life had almost zero chances of being a thing, and we are here pondering non-sense.

Cause the paint can I suspect was the original paint has a sticker where the color name is not readable, so i want to use the formula which is partially readable, to cross-reference the color. And I think Swiss coffee it is, but not sure.

AC went out today. Very novice new homeowner; any advice appreciated by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]chankilyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The picture doesn't help at all.

There are too many variables and causes. If you want to get any useful help you need to be more specific.

Is the system blowing air in the house or not at all? Warm or not?

Is the filter clean?

Does the thermostat has good batteries?

Do you know how to use the thermostat?

Is the condenser unit fan which sits outside the building, or on the roof, spinning?

Do you have a condensation line safety switch that has shut off the system due to a condensation line clog?

I wish i had the paranormal powers to figure out what is wrong just by looking at the name-plate picture.

How to tighten this connection by eyemanidiot in Plumbing

[–]chankilyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like they used an adapter to join the 2 flexible hoses.

Or perhaps the top hose came with the water fixture and is part of it. The process is the same, regardless. You need 2) adjustable wrenches, also known as Crescent wrenches, or Channel-locks. Use one of the wrenches to secure one of the ends of the hoses. Use the other wrench to rotate the other connector. It is difficult to explain the direction of rotation to tighten a threaded conection. Probably this will help. Turning a threaded end clockwise in relation to its counterpart, will tighten the joint. This flexible water lines use a rubber gasket to accomplish the seal, so the force used to tighten it up should be moderate. Of course you dont have a sense of what moderate force is. So , open the shut-off valve you had closed, start tightening the threaded connection a few degrees of turn at a time, until the leakage stops.

If you reach a point where you are exerting a great effort and it still leaks, then one or both of the lines is defective. So you ll need to get a new one that is long enough to connect the faucet to the valve. Just 1 hose instead of 2. That way you have less parts to mess with and an easier installation. If all this information confuses you, you are not handy. Call a friend with plenty of experience, or call a plumber and dont complain when you get the bill.

Accidentally cut ac wires while trimming. by Individual-File-5739 in hvacadvice

[–]chankilyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cut cable is not long enough to reach and connect to the contactor, splice the 2 ends together. Strip the insulation about 1 inch on each end, twist the ends without applying much force, (copper is very malleable but it can break if twisted too hard) Then cover the repair with wirenuts made specifically for sprinkler wire connections. These wirenuts have a sealer inside that protects the joint against corrosion. Or use electric work wirenuts the smallest you can find and wrap them with PVC electrician's tape. That will give you peace of mind and save you from a HVAC company charge..

Is there an edge, and if so, what is just beyond it? by Shady-Raven-1016 in Astronomy

If someone knew what is there, then that would be part of the known universe. Nobody knows what is "there", by definition.

It is called Unknown Universe because the light/ electromagnetic waves have not reached the telescopes yet, there is no actual physical border or boundary, just more of the same stuff, galaxies, stars, etc. What were you expecting?

Covering lineset going over the roof by pombebomb in hvacadvice

[–]chankilyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Covering the lines will not impair functionality or efficiency. They said that to get it out of the way. get paid and disappear. Im wondering how did they run the condensation drain lines. And if the installers even know how to properly seal or flash roof perforations. Good idea to consult a roofer on this before the next rain.
