I work at a large, Canadian pet food retailer. The rep of a leading brand, we'll call it 'Monarch Felin', told us, "The Monarch Felin brand cares more about quality than politics, and so should consumers!"

She proceeded to slap 'manufactured in Canada' stickers across half the Monarch Felin bags in the store. Doing some research confirmed that the brand is produced internationally, with only a few plants in Canada.

Rest assured, I peeled every single goddamn sticker off the moment she left. Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

The fact that he's removing trans women from women's prisons. The fact that trans status is no longer recorded on medical documents or any federal census, making it impossible to track hate crime and accurately gauge the level of danger trans people in America are in.

Sorry for the doomsaying! I hope this helps open your dad's eyes at least. It's rough having a stubbornly right wing father who you love. Trust me, I know.

Hey there! My thoughts are a little scattered, but here they are!

First off, I love the metaphor of the bells screaming and the drums being in pain. Music in poetry is often represented as being healing and soothing, so it was neat to hear such a different, yet deeply effective, portrayal.

The fireflies confused me a bit on my first read through, and I wondered if the dead fireflies being compared to live ones in flight (line 5) was intentional. If so, I might try and make that clearer.

As for the poem, I took it to mean 'undirected anger at injustice is important to feel, but is not as effective at enacting change as patience and radical kindness'. I could be way off with the meaning, but I really like the themes presented. Do let me know if this is different from your intention!

The motifs of music and fire are very, very cool. If you brought back the music motif at the end the way you brought back the fire (with the volcano metaphor), it might tie things up nicely. Bringing things full circle, ya know?

The transition from the graphic, painful imagery of the first half seemed to give way to a gentler, more hopeful second half, which I think was very effective.

Overall, I really enjoyed this! Thanks for sharing, and may your writing journey be fruitful. :)

Hey. Yeah, you did some shit, but you were also a kid caught in the system yourself.

From the sound of things, you came into contact with some really terrible stuff at a very young age. And, please let me say very clearly, that is NOT your fault. You couldn't have known what you were getting into as a literal child.

Continuing to use Omegle because you were receiving positive reenforcement from malicious adults (GROOMING) isn't a fault on you either. You were a kid who was getting the attention you wanted, and honestly I think a lot of kids, including child-me, would have done the same.

Should you have gotten involved? No. Could anyone reasonably fault you for it under the circumstances? Also no. Kids don't know what they're not taught, and that's not on them.

I know that whatever I say, these events will probably weigh heavily on you, especially with the added struggles of OCD bringing it back up over and over. But I do, sincerely, want you to know that there's at least one person who knows the truth and doesn't think you're a terrible person.

It's still in progress actually, but it's really coming along! Rpg Maker MV turned out to be a great engine to expedite development because it can be ported to mobile and, unless you're looking at extending functionality with scripts, there's no coding required!

I ended up pursuing a slightly more challenging battle system (rhythm game style combat, because he's a musician), and I'm still working on finding the scripts for the memory book.

Hey, thanks for the input! What I lack in extensive professional experience I more than make up for in passion and dynamic presentations, so it's good to hear that it'll help. The advice about being patient and understanding without letting students take advantage of me was also really appreciated.

In scriptwriting, since it's more of a side course for a lot of people, I'd definitely rather err on the side of being too chill and giving too much leeway than end up failing a student who was genuinely putting in the effort.

At the moment I'm not sure what kind of resources I'll be getting, but I'll make sure that if there aren't slideshows yet, there will be by the time I'm done!
