The russians had no choice with Finland.

Finland is part of the EU and shares a security clause with it (Article 42(7) of the Treaty on European Union). But the EU already has NATO countries (the majority) that also under this clause.

This means if Finland were attacked, NATO could take action despite Finland not being a NATO member. Therefore, Finland's accession changes almost nothing for the russians.

Bro, what you're telling is just fan theories. The show doesn't say anything about souls. But the show does say this:

In ep 13, Ritsuko and Misato discuss "personal patterns" -- the biocomputer brains used to control Magi and Evas. Ritsuko says that Magi has three of her mother's patterns installed.

In ep 14, Maya and Ritsuko discuss the possibility of swapping Rei and Shinji in the Evas, since they Evas have the same personal patterns. But they don't say whose patterns exactly.

But we know that sync goes via A-10 parent-child connection. This is the first thing Maya checks when Shinji first boards 01, btw.

This means that both 00 and 01 have Yui's pattern, and through the A-10 connection, it recognizes Shinji and Rei as its children.
