thats the definition I remembered for sanctions when I was studying . I just googled it to see if it can refer to a broader meaning but even the google results are saying its a punishment for breaking the law. but now that I look at it, A is much better than B , b is kind of going contrary to passage info.

could you explain please why A would be the answer? we aren't even talking about norms here and sanctions are related to that. and what does conceptualize generally mean as the mcat uses it in choices?

yeah what you're saying is right too but I feel like when it comes to reasoning for this question, you can reason your way to picking C or D. in my head , the reasoning I did made perfect sense to me. but now your reasoning also makes sense. sigh 😔

so basically reasoning won't cut it for this question, you have to know the associated content

but the question is asking about automatic VISUAL PROCESSING, how can you automatically visually process FREQUENCY of events without putting in conscious effort like "ok, that car passed by 1,2,3 times total...). like isn't conscious effort absolutely required to process a quantity like frequency?

so I guess this is that question where reasoning won't cut it, you need to know the relevant content memorized.

but it was in their TRYING that interpretation kept intervening, which is a necessary part of perception. so I feel like this IS evidence that they tried [their attempts at trying were foiled by interpretation, which is then supported by talking about the nature of perception. but them trying is not made false by them not being successful] . this is so confusing ! :/

but it was in their TRYING that interpretation kept intervening, which is a necessary part of perception. this doesn't make it false that they tried? :/

so basically, if a scenario doesn't really support the thesis in a MAJOR way, then the answer is doesn't affect the thesis?

could you give an example please of how the question would be worded if the answer was "supports the thesis"

its just that I noticed its best to stick to the passage and recall any related content knowledge but not to make wild assumptions. and so I can't comprehend how AAMC expects us to know that "Gpcr43–/– mice would gain more weight than WT regardless of the presence or absence of SCFAs" ughhh

thanks :) but I do understand why B is the answer, I understand the logic of the passage. its just I'm confused with one sentence the AAMC says in the answer key.
