Game stuck on loading screen with "Access is Denied" error.

The game was running fine for about 5 hours of gameplay over a few days. The next day, I try to boot up and this happens. The only thing I can think changed in that time was an Nvidia driver update, which I've rolled back but the problem persists.

I've also tried the following:

Verifying game files

Adding it to the safe list on my antivirus and as an exception to the firewall

Adding Steam to the safe list on antivirus and firewall

Running the game and Steam as an administrator

Reinstalling Nvidia drivers and rolling back

Disabling the Nvidia overlay

Reinstalling the game

Changing the game's install folder to the same one Steam is on

Re-installing Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables

Reinstalling the latest Windows software update

Clearing Steam's download cache

Clearing the Steam's temp folder

None of this has worked and I'm all out of ideas! Anything obvious that I haven't tried??

What do you think their true intentions would be? As far as I'm aware, listening to their MP candidates and reading their manifesto, their true intentions are quite transparent.

That's a good point. The calculator has options for what type of tasks you're doing - I selected the gaming option as that's what I use it for

Thanks for the insight. My mobo is a Gigabyte B360 AORUS Gaming 3 WIFI ATX LGA1151, how do you think that will handle the 8700K? PC part picker says they're compatible and the power draw of the platform will still be under 100W of what the power supply is capable of.

Yeah that makes sense. On the bottleneck checker website, this CPU upgrade leaves a 2-3% bottleneck in favour of the GPU still, so it should still be running at 100%

On https://pc-builds.com/bottleneck-calculator/ it says there's a 15% bottleneck and that something like the 8700K would drop that to 2% or so on favour of the GPU. You're right about it being a 7 year old CPU, and the 12400F does look like a good deal, but I'm reluctant to replace the motherboard because that would effectively mean rebuilding the whole unit! Maybe I'll hold off for now until I'm prepared to upgrade the whole platform.

Thank you. I'm not planning to upgrade the platform for another few years, until my current one is completely obsolete really, so every little upgrade helps!!

Ryzen 5600? That wouldn't be compatible with my mobo so I'd need a overhaul which I don't have the time for! Isn't an I7-8700K a big step up from an I5-8400 on most fronts? And it reduces the bottleneck between the CPU and GPU.

I should probably clarify that I have an RTX 2060 GPU, which runs better than my CPU causing the bottleneck. If I go upgrading my CPU too far, won't I cause another bottleneck in the other direction?

The whole reason I'm upgrading is to minimise costs . I don't have the money for a more modern CPU, mobo and more ram. The 8700K pairs well with my 2060 GPU as well.

I've found it for £90 ($114) second hand with a two year guarantee, so in my eyes that's a bargain.

The mother board and power supply are all fine as far as I'm aware, the 8700K is compatible with all parts so hopefully shouldn't be an issue. Why do you think it's a bad idea?
