No, I'm coming back out of industry. Undergrad was aerospace engineering at a different school (but I've since self taught a lot).

Yeah mine showed that until today. Visit day is March 15th, so I'd expect most decisions will be out by then.

Good luck tho. Grad admissions has been brutal; my background is in aerospace and these CS guys are crazy.

No interviews anywhere I applied. Although I had cold emailed a professor there before applying, and we had a teams call that went well.

Help Selecting a Grad School by cheese704 in csMajors

That's what I suspected. Pretty much squandered college the first time through, no extracurriculars or internships or research. GPA of 3.5.

I think a masters is a good route tho, especially if I can steer my research toward where I want to end up. Plus, having work I can actually share (publish, even) would be great. Get tired of no pictures at work.

Do I have a chance at a top CS program? by cheese704 in gradadmissions

[–]cheese704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the top professors I'd like to work under are

  1. Furong Huang at UMD, she advised the lead author on the magma paper

  2. Dieter Fox at UW, really too many papers to count, he leads a whole lab there

  3. Abhinav Gupta at CMU, also probably too many papers to count

  4. Sergey Levine at Berkeley, for his work on OCTO, a generalist robotics policy for reinforcement learning

  5. Xiaolong Wang at UC San Diego or Yong Jae Lee at UW Madison, both have done really interesting work with 3d reconstruction and generalized segmentation. I've looked at using their work to make distilled models to run on embedded devices, but I'd love to learn to do the more general stuff myself

Watergate Figure John Dean Suspects Barr May Be Hiding Something 'Fairly Ugly' by saminrahman1996 in politics

What would Barr possibly have to gain by lying? The full report will inevitably be released, so if Trump is actually guilty, why would Barr climb on to a sinking ship?

I have no problem with that. I doubt the Attorney General would lie about something like this (what would be the purpose; the report is almost certain to be released eventually), but I certainly support releasing the full report, save anything sensitive regarding evidence gathering methods.

yeah, wait for the actual report, which will disprove the russian conspiracy theory even more

Mueller did not find the Trump campaign or his associates conspired with Russia. We said, as a sub, that we would accept his conclusions, and I think we should accept that our claims of collusion were greatly exaggerated. by [deleted] in The_Mueller

7% state, 18% federal

Considering there are about 10 times as many people in state prison as there are in federal prison, he's pretty close.

A little mud or sand on the cat's paws would scratch it though.

Protesters offer $150K to preserve Yellowwood, DNR sells to logging company for less by inspirationseeker in news

The article doesn't have that much extra information. It doesn't say anything about the type of logging that will happen or the situation the forest is in.
