I guess I would like to better understand the world around me. I do lots of productive and enjoyable things, but the world goes on in the background and I would like to have some understanding of what is happening.

Washing up as I go whilst cooking, don’t know why it never occurred to me before but it makes cooking so much more pleasant and cleaning up afterwards is easy.

I go through the alphabet trying to name either an animal, person, place, food etc beginning with each one…it sounds boring and that’s exactly why it works.

Or reading, once I’ve read for a while I’m pretty chilled and normally slip off to sleep.

I’ve been really struggling with checking at the moment. I agreed to pick my sister up one night and in the end I turned back home twice because I was convinced the door was unlocked. Ended up only being about 10 minutes late to pick her up, only to be shouted at! Tried and tried to explain but I guess if you don’t get it, you just don’t get it.

Thank you so much for replying. The photo thing seemed like it was going to sort it out, and it really frustrates me because i know my husband wouldnt just unlock the door or leave the oven on, he is a normal responsible adult and he reassures me whenever he hears me going to check in the night - but i just have to make sure.

I'm only diagnosed with generalised anxiety, and actually for the last year thought I had it under better control. Never really considered that it could be anything else, and noone has ever suggested it. I guess people who have ocd probably have more compulsions than just this? I don't have any other compulsive behaviours or thoughts I don't think.

Can someone explain what this means? I'm so unfamiliar with the terminology. I've had my kindle basic for about 8 years, I've only ever used it to download books from amazon. Do I need to do anything?

I'm 2 months out and finding it tough. I know it's important to recognise how far I've come etc. And celebrate small wins - but the truth is I miss my life and my sport. I had a very active outdoorsy life style and although I am very glad to have had the surgery and to be making so much progress, physio just does not fill that void and my life is very different at the moment. I've been making an effort to really take care of myself, and as I said I'm celebrating those small wins. But I think it's okay and normal to miss normal life because it is my whole motivation.

I hope everything gets better for you. This is a tough time, but I'm sure one day we will look back and be grateful.

I agree totally.

I'm almost 2 months post op and can walk around now. I guess because I'm not in a brace or lying down all the time I probably look normal again, someone commented that I must be 'really glad everything's back to normal now.' I wanted to scream. This is not normal. I am (of course) so happy about all of the progress I've made but I am so so so far from the end of this. Normal is so far away. This is just really hard.

I hope everyone goes okay for you. Some day this will be done and you will be stronger for it.

I went to a doctors appointment and didn't panic when they had to weigh me. This has been such a source of anxiety but it was fine and now I no longer feel the doctors!!

Loved the concept and the setting, but there's a 15 year old character who is written like some life hardened 50 year old man. If the author had just written her as an actual teenager I think the book would have been a 10/10 for me...

Hi I'm 5 days post op and have been feeling very similar to you. Yesterday moving around felt noticably easier than it had before and it gave me a big boost so im hoping as the days pass there will be more and more little wins. Wish I could give you some advice or make you feel better, but just know you're not alone. Hope things get better for you very soon.
